by Stephanie M. on I have not been to a club in AGES. That should tell you a little bit about me! Having said that, I think this place is quite nice. I went here for an exclusive birthday bash for my cousin Justin and I was not disappointed. The music was a great mix of club, hip hop, and old skool jams (which I found myself and my hub the only ones dancing to-go figure). You could definitely tell the DJ was over 30 since most of the songs playing no one around us knew, so then he had to switch back to the pop-ish, new skool R&B-ish stuff. (small boo) Bartenders look overwhelmed but you could always trade a smile in for some service and I find that always works well. Chic, earthy environment (branchlike lighting and dark walls/low lighting). Upstairs VIP section is nice to look over and people watch. gets crowded so make sure you reserve some tables ahead of time.
by Eric on Great atmosphere. Nothing like the scuzzy alternatives. Very upscale. I dropped $70 and felt like I actually got my money's worth. Go figure. (Not big on the music choices though.)
by Rusty Machkovich on I've only been here for Jazz and a few company-related events. There's some food, but I've never arrived early enough to want to eat here, and haven't ever had to order food, only drinks. Mostly here due to the music, Jazz bands to indie rock and local artists, and it was quite interesting to check out the decor (modern renovation from a really old set of offices back in 2003 or thereabouts).
by Grover Agar on If someone asked me what I thought a jazz club would feel like SMOKE would fit the description. Its a great place for a date - the cozy tables, dim light, and live performance make it special. You're so close to the band that it's like having your own personal performance. I thought the food was good, a little expensive. Also, once the lights are dimmed you can't really see your food. If your not interested in getting a table there is also a bar. SMOKE will leave an impression for a special occasion, it also show cases many great jazz musicians. I've only been once, but I'm glad I made the reservation, the place filled up quickly before the show.
by Dan on I was very impressed with the building, room layout, the dancer's and waitresses. I was very impressed with the "bubble" rooms. I should add Hanna and her waitress friend were top notch. Keep up the good work. Nepal's definately gets a positive recommendation from me.
