by Shahirah I. on A sleek, sexy and classy venue perfect for date night.... Only for the jazz though! Came here last week with my gorgeous fiance to watch Brian McKnight, who was incredible by the way-- it takes a talented man to charm an audience solo with his piano and guitar,-- but.. I digress... The venue is pretty amazing, it is HUGE. There are two sections, a beautiful spacious restaurant where you can be entertained by local artists over dinner, or spend the night at the Jazz Club for featured performances. Of course you can do both when you purchase a dinner and show Package (dinner in the restaurant first, and reserved seating at the Jazz Club) But to be honest, I was a little disappointed with the food. Although my fiance and I purchased the dinner and show package, we decided to have dinner at the jazz club instead of the restaurant as we were short on time, which meant we could select from a smaller menu and enjoy it over the show. One thing is for sure: An upscale venue = upscale prices, meaning a tiny serving of spicy tuna sushi is going to set you back $8, sashimi $16. While we were prepared for that, we also prepared for it to be pretty awesome.. it wasn't. The edamame was the rawest I've ever had, and the sushi was tasteless. I don't mind paying for great food, but when your local sushi store serves it up better than Yoshi's, you realise it's all a tad overrated. Go for the jazz and enjoy a couple of cocktails, after all, it is first and foremost... A Jazz Club.
by Madalyn Delcampo on Recently voted the "douchiest bar in San Francisco". http://sf.eater.com/ar... It definitely got my vote. Rude staff, ridiculous prices, and horrible bridge and tunnel crowd make even a brief visit to Douchejool vomit inducing.
by Denisha Lodeiro on This place is FUN! My first time here on Saturday night to try out salsa lessons with a girl friend. $10 cover for one and half hour instruction and a live band - not bad. Be prepared to see lots of really good dancers! I was impressed! It was very nice that you didn't need a partner, as they tell you to rotate every so often. You also get to dance with several people to distinguish the good leaders from the bad ones :) One star off for the very inaccessible location! There's free parking if you drive, but if you don't, this is a very difficult location to get to by public transportation!
