Date of First Visit: March 15, 2008 **This review is for the old location, near the Austin Motel on Soco.** A few friends of mine from the Rio Grande Valley came up for SXSW. We did a lot of walking on Saturday, and around 230pm or so, after spending a bit of time at Auditorium Shores and then walking up South Congress, we wound up at El Sol y La Luna. I wanted a refreshing drink, though not of the alcohol variety, so I settled on their agua fresca, or as we say in English, lemonade. Well, they did have a flower agua fresca, too, ( I recall they call it jamaica - not the country!), but I wasn't feeling adventurous, and I wanted to quench my thirst and get rehydrated again from the heat, so the lemonade it was! It was good, but nothing to be super-excited about. My friends ordered some Mexican grub like the nachos and other "snacky" stuff, so we wound up sitting there for a couple of hours, watching the passersby on SoCo. Lovely afternoon. I don't think I endeared myself to our waitress when I asked if I could first sample the agua fresca.... :-) Well, I didn't know it would just be regular lemonade! Anyway, the food ordered was fine, but it was simple stuff like nachos with cheese dip, beans, etc. We didn't try any dishes, so I couldn't say either way if the food is good or authentic.

There's almost nothing lovelier than sitting by the Roosevelt's pool on a sunny afternoon, when it's quiet and no one is around. So relaxing and nice! I've never stayed here, so I can't speak to the service, but it's a great place to come for a drink, especially at off-peak times.
