It's so hard to find good hip hop, r&b, & reggae to dance to in this city anymore that doesn't include mix-ins of "crowd pleasers" - top 40, pop, rock, house, etc., that bOb Bar is a rarity. Yes, it's small and sweaty, but mostly everyone is dancing, so it almost contributes to the atmosphere. The dj plays everything from old school to recent releases, and knows when to switch a song up. The crowd is diverse and laid back, and the staff is cool.

On food alone, this place far surpasses other bars! An amazing fusion of traditional alcohol absorbent snacks with a Southeast Asian flair. Can't comment on the doorman situation since I've only come on lightly attended event- and music- focused Tuesdays. Chicken Drumettes: Loved that they used real chunks of blue cheese as opposed to some watered down dipping sauce. The micro-celery was cool, but didn't taste that celeriac... more like fancy lettuce. I didn't explicitly taste the red curry butter on the wings, but they were tasty nonetheless. Pork and Shrimp Lumpia: Why the heck did this country ever bother with inferior egg rolls when lumpia are carnivore delights? Stuffed with ground meat, shredded carrots and daikon for all sorts of minced goodness. Didn't pick up on the shirmp, but that's ok since the it was good anyways. Chicken Red Curry Pizza: Be careful CPK doesn't bootleg this idea! It was awesome that the sauce was spicy and has coconut tones as opposed to those boring tomato conformists. Saw a lot of red pepper on the pizza, but not so much of the corn that was advertised. The crust was disappointing, way too bready. Perhaps they should invest in a 900ºF oven to do it right?
