by Elle T. on Dined here for the first time with a group of friends. I really enjoyed the sushi and the ambiance. The sushi is delicious and so fresh! Service is pretty good. No complaints. Definitely want to come back here for dinner with my boyfriend.
by Pierre Puccia on I had to try Amalia after reading about its recent opening, as I'm always looking for new places in my Hell's Kitchen/Midtown West 'hood. The decor is the winning factor here. The interior is absolutely stunning and elegant, with an eclectic mix of dramatic chandeliers, a glass tiled stairway, and candle-lit walls. Our meal was tasty, although I feel like the chef overdid many of the dishes on sweetness. They were almost too hedonistic. For instance, the carrots that accompanied my short ribs were so sugary I felt like I was eating dessert. The duck was also decent, but a bit too overcooked. The highlight of the meal- the Hudson Valley Foie Gras appetizer. Incredible. I savored each bite. After dinner we headed down to the lounge- a sexy cave-like bar area on the lower area- for a drink. I would definitely come back here with a group of friends. Although a Saturday night, it was pretty empty. I have a feeling that once the word gets out, the lounge will be what keeps Amalia in business.
