Good music and very beautiful people.  What more can you ask from a club?

There is really nothing like Ruby Skye in the city, it brings together a string of top DJ performing excellent spins at all time (Dj Tiesto, Armin van Burin, Carl Cox... etc), and the venue itself is spacious, filled with modern black themed minimalist styled decoration.  Restrooms are well designed at both floors, so even at its max capacity there is hardly a huge line that is unbearable. I went to DJ Tiesto's concert here at 2006, and it was an amazing experience.  The GoGo dancers were quite out of this world styling (matched Trance), crowds were classy (very little of the Popsicle crowd here), and the light work that shot up and down the ceiling was a beauty to look at.   I know the drinks are very expansive, but usually people don't reply on drinks at party like this, pre drink a little and let the music take you through the night!.  As for the line, you have to go early with these Top DJs, just like any other trance club, so I have no problem with that. Compared to other trance oriented club like 1015 (GHETTO), DNA Lounge, End Up, Monster Massive, Cow Palace. etc.. Ruby Skye is the clear winner by far.  Make sure you pregame a little before coming in here, 2 shots of Grey Goose usually set you back $20-24 ish.

after several hours and several drinks at vertigo, i forgot that i was on polk street and thought that i was in north beach.  cheesy cheesy music (one time through with gnarls barkley apparently wasn't enough, and we were treated to it a second time around before the end of the evening.  in fact, a number of the current "classics" were in heavy rotation.  i'm not exactly complaining about this, as i was shaking the booty with the best of them for most of the night), dance floor crammed to capacity with a bench along the edge that transformed into a dancing platform, and a crowd that led one to believe that bridges or long stretches of highway driving were involved in their transportation for the evening.  all typical of north beach.  however, north beach is something of a bitch to get to from most parts of the city and if you're looking to dance till you're sweaty, this is an excellent, more easily accessible option.  also, no cover charge when we got there. i'm not sure if they started charging later in the evening or not.
