Service starts with a smile couldn't be more true for Jermaine who took our order, great start to a great lunch. Brunch burger and Dallas burger were perfect but overall it's hard for me to give this place five stars because it's not the best in the city. The vanilla caramel shake was a great break from norm and I will be getting another one on my return trip.

The only thing I liked about this place was the music. That's it. The 3 stars are solely a result of that. The rest of this review is going to be about how I don't like this place. Here goes. The overly pretentious, and exclusive line. I got in no problem because of my two friends and being a girl certainly helps as well. Skipped the line and just walked in. Then I found out that I had to pay 25-30 bux to get in to the bar. I can't begin to say how much I hate covers - but let's just say it is one of my pet peeves. It just gives me this level of expectation of the place which usually is never met mainly because I'm in such a foul mood from paying the cover. In any case, I pay a reduced cover and get in. Apparently, according to my friend, he couldn't believe how easy it was to get me in. I'd have to disagree - I paid to get in. That too 20 bux and that just doesn't sit well with me. In any case, I go in, hear house music and I couldn't be happier. Sometimes, I just get sick of hip hop and top 20 and need some good real dance music and house satisfies that for me. As I walk in it's almost like a glow in the dark setting with people on top of bars dancing and taking turns doing so. It's a fun atmosphere at first glance. Until you have a second. Let's just say the crowd is not what I like. It's better than Gypsy in terms of crowd, but not considerably better. I did enjoy dancing on top of bars though and watching people go up there and dance - just not when one guy was pretty much having you know what with every skirt that jumped up regardless of the fact that he knew her or not. Disgusting. The club acts to be like Cain from New York, especially with their bongo players joining in every now and then and while it provides a nice ambience, it still didn't impress me as much. I guess I just liked Cain more. Also, there is a hip hop side to underbar which is nice to take a break from. Plus you can always go up to caprice and further upstairs to hear some international/salsa music. That building has it all - I guess that's the other good thing that I should mention. Aside from that the drinks are slightly expensive and you just have to be ready to drop a little bit of money (including cover) to get over the fact that you paid so much to get into this place to begin with. Ah well. The only real redeeming factor was that I was there with some great friends and ended up having an awesome time despite all these things that I just cannot stand. However, there was a reason why I didn't think I'd like underbar too much, and after going there, I maintain that reason and probably won't find myself there again. Not until they get rid of that cover.

What a great venue for live music! Biscuits & Blues has that down-home, hidden away blues club kind of vibe. We arrived early for the first show and got a great table for dinner. I had the diced ahi with wasabi mayo stacked with fried won tons and the gumbo while The Wife ordered the Dungeness crab cakes with roasted corn. I thought the ahi was an interesting take on a Hawaiian poke or tuna salad depending how you look at things. It was light and refreshing. The gumbo...wasn't. If there was any roux at all in the gumbo it was a very "blond" roux and not the deep mahogany flavor you want in a gumbo. Now, saying that, it was a pleasant soup that was mostly bell peppers but pretty shy on the chicken. I had three small pieces of poultry in mine that wouldn't total an ounce in total weight. The Wife's dish came with a heaping mound of french fried yams that were tasty and the crab cakes were very good with very little filler so you got lots of good crab flavor. We also got a basket of biscuits which The Wife said were almost as good as hers which to her means they are the second best in the country! Service was very good and friendly. Because the room is pretty small with a low ceiling it does tend to get very loud when the music starts so if you are sensitive to that you might want to bring some earplugs along.
