After being meat-free for several years, I now partake once in a while. I should say that I actually have an acute craving for red meat almost exactly once every 6 months. Lucky for me, my last craving coincided with a dinner I was so graciously invited to in a private room at STK. I was excited, to say the least. We had a special menu so I'm not sure if what I ate matches up to the regular menu but I'm guessing it does... My skirt steak did not disappoint. In fact, it was so good my neighbor asked me for half of my portion! (I gladly obliged) Oh and they didn't laugh at me when I ordered my steak 'cooked through' (or Persian Style as my neighbor says). The cheesy, garlic bread they brought prior to the meal was also delicious. My dessert was a pretty standard chocolate lava cake (Ali, that's for you), which was a boring yet appropriate finish for a classic steak dinner. All in all a great meal. I am so glad I got to come here!! 4 solid stars.

Gotta say that life boils down to the expectations you enter with b/c I went in expecting little from The Varsity, but still had it on my to-do list for a recent trip to Atlanta if only for the touristy experience.  Most likely b/c of that, I really enjoyed it. The dogs are really small, but I dug the consistency of the coney sauce...it was tasty with a grainy texture that was pretty interesting. The onion rings were salty and good and the diet coke was cokey. I mean, really, no one could walk in there expecting gourmet food but it's happy, greasy diner food with history. The history alone should take you there and you could spend a half hour just reading the news clippings on the wall or checking out the nostalgic drawings of local haunts. I was disappointed b/c we walked in to a nearly empty Varsity and didn't get the chaotic experience I've seen...so, if you're going for the full What'll ya have? flavor, be sure to visit during a football weekend.

I went there on a friday night and was disgusted by the place and experience. The only plus was the existence of balconies, from where I watched the crowd mingle or better said, guys attack women, who were very few in number. There was a long line both for regular enterance and also for VIP. The bouncers were partial. There are several check points till you reach the dance floor. So from the point that you step in, it takes you around 10 mins, with id check, ticket check/purchase, get in line again!! for a security check. I never went through a security check this tight before (asking me to even take out my keys) that I felt a little worried about the place. When both floors are open, usually the crowd gathers downstairs so if you'd like to take a break, go upstairs to the couches. The cover is way too much, $20, for the service but if you go with a flier, it is half price. The drinks are watered down, as you'd expect to find at any mediocre club. The music is OK. I went there on a friday hip hop, r&b night, so the dj played the most popular songs. The downside is that he plays the same beat for a loooong time. Note for guys: the dancers are extremely ugly. I went there with 4 guy friends and they were pretty devastated!
