We went to Little Baobob totally on a lark - we were on the way to a concert at the Red Poppy Art House, and decided to stop somewhere close by for dinner. It was pretty early, so it was in restaurant rather than club mode. The food was great. I had these really well made plaintains, and their shrimp dish with coconut cream. Yummy. The rum and ginger punch was great too. We were by far the oldsters in the crowd, but it didn't bother us much. Nice place, great food. I'll be going back, for sure.

I used to party here MANY years ago back when the crowd was hot and the dress code was like.. prom night.  It was great those days but when I went back with my date a few months ago, it was far from what it used to be. Sure people are still dressing up but not in those GQ suits and beautiful gowns. I saw a lot of flashy sequined strange clothes. I guess it was because there was a salsa dance competition that night. Sure I enjoyed trying to dance to the live salsa band and watching the competition but I wouldn't come back, especially on girls' night out. BUT if you're into extremely short men dressed in glittery see-through shirts, sweating to salsa music.. this is the place! I need lots of drinks for this.. oh wait..It's too expensive to get drunk here. Let's go somewhere else.. oh wait... I just paid $20 admission. D@mn! I'm stuck here. Maybe it was just the wrong night. I might give it another try if I ever learn to salsa dance.

Ok, so back to rateclubsing, here I come--we didn't pay to get in here, and I'm definitely glad.  The decor wasn't amazing, although the concept was cool.  I did not like the unisex bathrooms, but then I am a girl and I prefer moving in troops to the bathroom, sharing lipglosses with my girlfriends, and staring at myself for overly long periods of time in the mirror to make sure I look OK before I leave.  I couldn't do that here. So drinks--overpriced in my opinion, I think there are better places that are not quite as expensive.  The crowd was OK, not bad, but not good either.  I didn't find it pretentious, but then it wasn't that interesting. I'm giving it three stars because I liked the music, and I must admit, it was kinda cool to lay down once I started getting sorta drunk.
