by Robyn G. on I attended a dinner here for a party of 8 one evening. We all had mixed feelings about this place. Overall, I'll give it 3 stars, but individually I would rate it like this: Atmosphere: 5 stars - This is a really big and very beautiful place! You feel like your in a foreign royal castle with the extremely high ceilings, dark thick wood accents, long hallways, white table linens and fancy chandeliers! Very nicely done. Yet, at the same time, it's not stuffy at all and you feel relaxed and able to enjoy yourself and your company with ease. I saw people in jeans and then some more dressed up in dresses and slacks, anything goes! Food: 4 stars - Everything was very yummy! The muscles were amazing!! And they make a good tiramisu too. I got the shrimp scampi and it was tasty. Not THE BEST food, but pretty dang good! Service: 1 star - We waited 1 hour for our food!!! And another hour was spent waiting for everything else from the check, to drinks and silverware. The waiter was pleasant, but not very attentive. I'm not sure if they were understaffed this evening or what but their kitchen was moving SLOW. When the food did come out, one entree wasn't even finished, with a main sauce not added because they were out. Drinks - The drinks are very yummy! They have a list of many very interesting and original martinis (the pineapple one is VERY good!) and a large list of wines. Management: 4 stars - I'd give 5 stars, but really things should have been right in the first place. The manager was very quick to be sure that we didn't leave completely unhappy and comped all of our entres, and a second dish was provided to go for the dish that was not complete. So thankful to good company with our party, great drinks and a good atmosphere, the night wasn't a total fail and we still managed to have a good time. I would go back and I recommend the place, but maybe just don't go on a busy Saturday evening...try a weekday instead when they can better keep up and I think you'll be very pleased.
by Julius Smyser on pay attention to your receipt! they upgraded my lemon drop to goose on my receipt when all i had was lemon! when i called them out, they said they couldn't do anything about it bcuz i already signed the receipt. Def NOT the way to treat your customers! how SHAAAADY!
by Whitney Roblez on The interior is quite nice! I have been here once on a Friday and twice on Saturdays. the Saturday crowd seems much more pedestrian. Decor is very much like how Home looked in New York when it opened three or so years ago. Layout of bottle service is not as concussive as I might like though. Warning, a few of the bar staff have pretty big attitudes. I once ordered a gin and tonic expecting a decent well, only to find that they poor real cheap wells. Any place of a higher pedigree I I expect to pour at the very worst Absolute. I gave some commentary and was quickly rebuked by the bar maid. Mixed drinks here are also not overly strong. I prefer Halo for mixed drinks. The crowd is stylish though compared to most places in Atlanta. I can not give this place a true 4 or 5 star lounge rating simply because it charges a cover and seems to let most riff raff in. The good thing is that while there is a like 30 deep for Cosmo Lava down there street, most riff raff do not know about Door 44, and therefore you are sheltered from the "Bridge and Tunnel" crowd that plagues places like Cosmo and Opera. See for yourself, it is worth checking out!
