My favorite party in NY right now... sometimes in the Village, sometimes in Brooklyn, but check out these DJs' other nights, too... They're all over the place, too, from hip hop to house to soul to dancehall to funk and beyond. The common thread is that it's all just good music... And if you dig the song, the DJs are always down to flip up a record jacket and let you know what you're listening to. On top of it, the scene is full of folks who really just want to dance and have a good time. No dress code, no profiling, just a great party with real folks enjoying each others' company. This party is seriously worth the trip from just about anywhere... Oh, and on the $10 tip, while this party is definitely worth it, it's $5 before midnight and free before midnight if you RSVP (usually).

The sushi was phenomenal--fresh tasty peices of fish and the chefs combination platter introduced me to new types I had never tried. The appetizers were ordered (10 hour cooked porkbelly and white fish carpaccio) were also excellent. The signature brewed beer was also tasty. All in all, the food was a 5. But the dining experience more like a 3...taking the average I will give it a 4. The decor in morimoto is unique and interesting. They play up their long narrow space and you feel like you're in a seashell. pretty cool. Except, in the middle of each table is an immobile pillar lamp that looks like a big white, glowing dildo. For our 2 person table, it monopolized the center of the table and made it difficult to share food. AND it is bright enough and directly in your face so it actually hurt my eyes to look at the person sitting across from me. After one or two of those tasty beers, my boyfriend and I decided the appropriate solution was to drape a napkin over it. Finally, my waiter sounded like a douchey announcer from 'most extreme elimination challenge.' So, in sum....GREAT food but avoid a 2 person table at all costs!
