One of S. Starr's Philadelphia restaurants, and so comes with expectations higher than most restaurants in the city. Foodwise, it doesn't disappoint. There's a nice mix of traditional and creative sushi (e.g. lobster rolls, tuna handrolls 3-ways) which was all fresh and nicely done. Additionally, the menu has a whole page of dim sum (appetizers) and entree dishes drawing from Japanese, Chinese, and Thai influences....think Pad Thai, Steak Teriyaki, etc. We opted to get all sushi and dim sum and were very happy with our choices. What lost this place a star was its decor; it's pretty weird. The theme seems to be Japanese minimalism, with blank white walls, hard white chairs, and a cracked cement floor. This all gives a feeling of coldness to the dining room. Great food, great service, weird interior. But highly recommended!

I came here on a slow weekday for a friends birthday. We had a large reservation and an amazing time. What's wrong with this picture!?!? I had higher expectations for this place.... I requested the pescatarian option and they did not quite deliver. First course- ahhh fuck I don't even remember what it was.....cuz it wasn't memorable....duh. Soup- some kind of creamy lobster soup. When I say creamy, I MEAN CREAMY. So creamy that I almost couldn't finish it, but I did anyway.... since it probably costed $20. Main course was some kind of tofu with vegetables. I am probably going to get colon cancer when I am 30 because I love salt. Nothing is ever salty enough for me. When I eat french fries, I seriously drench them in salt. HOWEVER, this dish was soooooo salty that even I (the queen of salt) thought it was overbearing. The grand finale was the luscious creme brulee  with biscotti. That won my taste buds. Suddenly everything wrong with the previous dishes didn't matter anymore. I was in heaven! Maybe the food didn't quite make me happy, but the decor, beds, and good company surely made up for it. If it wasn't for that, I would give them a 2.5.
