by Kevin Z. on I went there for lunch one day. Pretty good food. So I've wanted to take some friends to try it. The first time my friends drove all the way from Malibu and at the door around 7pm we were told that we can't get in due to a private party. The whole place? Then yesterday I tried to go for lunch at 2:30 with some friends. At the door we were turned away again "Sorry we stopped serving lunch". What kind of Mexican Restaurant closes at 2:30? Then last night we had a table of 5. When we got the bill it had a 40% gratuity added. Yeah i complained and he said opps, and came back with a 22% gratuity added. Are you kidding me? Seems like they don't care about repeat business. I will never try La Vida again.
by Luetta Hembre on A fine choice if you're so hankering for barbecue that it can't wait until you leave the airport. Chopped brisket sandwich had a generous, sweet, fluffy, fresh sesame roll. The meat itself was kind of sparse, chopped so fine and tender it got lost in the vast expanse of bun. Although I'm no expert it seemed a little different than standard Texas BBQ: the sauce was sweeter, tangier, didn't seem to be any tomato or smoke and not spicy. A tiny pickle sliver. Price was about right for an airport. All in all a decent sandwich. Seating is in the concourse with a commanding view of Gate 12 and part of Gate 11. It's a few gates down from a live music stage. Don't forget the fork and a pile of napkins, if you try to eat this with your hands you'll be the next sauce splatter victim.
