I have been to many aquariums around the US and this overall is the most impressive and extensive. The large tank with the whale sharks is the most impressive thing I have ever seen at an aquarium. The other displays you can find better examples of at other aquariums, but never all at one place. The Japanese spider crabs were really cool and a little bit creepy. Tip: I bought tickets on-line for a Saturday when they first opened and was able to see everything before it got too crowded. By the time we left it was a mad house. Tip: Eat before or after you go, the food and drinks are really expensive.

One star for the beautiful mist-coated view of SF.... Famished, we reached the top floor lounge needing a bev and some small plates.  For some reason, despite the sparse deck population (it was Monday), there seemed to be no one around to help us out.  I saw a lot of surveillance screens up on a TV before we got on the elevator, doesn't someone know we are here? I noticed a fratty-looking guy in a black hoodie and PJ pants doing a lot of chatting near the bar.  I thought he might be pouring out his sorrows to the bartender, but as he turned to the side to stare at me, I saw he was wrapped up on the phone.  OK, so there's one guy who wasn't distracting the bartender.  Where the hell was our server? Moments later, I was seriously dismayed to see fratty boy hang up his phone call and proceed over to our table.  Why was he coming over here?  Was he going to ask for my- or worse, my boyfriend's- number? No.  He is coming to take our order.  AND he is the bartender.  Fabulous. We are saddened that every thing on the menu that could be vegetarian seems to be impossibly combined with meat.  Falafel? Sorry, filled with crab.  Skewers?  Not available except on the weekends.  FB finishes his quasi-informed schpeel on the food by saying "Pretty much everything on the menu is made to go with what it's already with." This guy is a genius. Oh, but wait!  I hadn't yet received my drink- a Ketel & grapefruit.  It arrived looking as though someone took a giant drink of it before it got to me.  Two to three fingers deep...of nothing but air.  I was too over the whole experience to say anything, knowing in my heart this would be my first and last trip to Medjool.  But it did not help numb my displeasure, which would have been nice after the delivery of the "Ripoff Plate"- the Medjool sampler of hummus, babaganoush, and some other dip.  It was the only thing we ordered, and we were glad.  It was a sad splash of each with flatbread that looked exactly like the pita bread but cost 4 times more. If you are thinking about going to Medjool, may I suggest the following? *Take 60 dollars in ones and tape from end to end with fabric tape.  (It's amply soft and American currency is 70% linen.) *Wrap carefully around empty TP roll. *Enjoy caressing your heiny with this luxury 3-4 ply wipe for about three days *Rest assured knowing it was money well spent.  When it comes down to you and Medjool... Your ass deserves better. **11/26 UPDATE** I was contacted by the operations manager who expressed her concern and apologized for my treatment here.  She invited me back gratis to give it another chance, so I'm bumping up my original rating to 2 stars for her kindness and willingness to make it right.

I came here to see Bernard Fanning, one of my favorite Australian singers.  Upon reading other reviews and talking to people, I booked my friend and myself a table for the concert.  Walking into the bar, everyone was very friendly and we were led to one of only three high-top tables in the place.  We did have to fulfill a food/drink minimum of $20 or so, but it was well worth the view we had of the stage. Since this is a smaller venue, I think it would be hard to see the band if not in the front, especially being 5'1 like myself.  With our seats, we had a completely unobstructed view of the stage and enjoyed the concert thoroughly, while eating good food.  I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat.
