Those words are for XIV's Summer Sunday Sessions with the EC Twins spinning. ;-) The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food is excellent. They could make the drinks a bit stiffer though. Or maybe it's just me? I'm used to drinks on the rocks. Anyways back to summer sesh... The place gets SUPER packed, hot and sweaty but no one cares because everyone is busy drinking and having an awesome time dancing. People standing on the chairs and tables, holding on the the rails on the ceiling so they won't drunkenly fall all over the place. Sexy go-go dancers in hot outfits on the bar. Some guy blasting the people and fans with a fire extinguisher. Foam and champagne spraying over everyone... Yeah it gets pretty nuts in here. So if you aren't into crazy partying then stay away. This is definitely not the place for you (only during summer sessions though). Other than on Sunday Summer Sessions, the Terrace area is actually really relaxing and chill. They have an awesome happy hour, Thursday-Saturday nights from 7-10pm. Great spot to grab a few drinks and appetizers before going someplace else to dance the night away. LOVE XIV. Michael Mina and SBE did a fantastic job!
by Alison C. on ATTENTION: UNDERBAR IS LOCATED IN CAPRICE. Look at that, I just saved you five minutes of your life. Or in my case, minutes spent wandering back and forth down Tremont wondering where the HELL this place was? I asked some chick and she told me I had made the name up. Yay, Boston. I went to see Fedde Le Grand last night at Underbar because he provided the soundtrack to the four months I lived in Australia last year, and I needed a good dance party. On the ticket, it said the show started at 10, but Underbar doesn't even open until 11. I was planning on catching the T home at midnight, so that wasn't cool. When I first walked in, I was surprised at the variety of people that were there. Some people were dressed to the nines, while others were in sweatshirts and sneakers. Very strange. Also, the bar looked like a lounge until Fedde came on, and then people started using the "lounge" furniture as podiums to dance on. I appreciated it. Overall I had a lot of fun, even though I was totally out of my comfort zone. The bouncers and bartenders were all very nice (except the one upstairs in Caprice, UGH) and I got to meet Fedde at the end of the night! I'm not usually a big techno-DJ follower, but I would go back if there was someone good playing.
