by B. J. on The view was about the only thing this place had going for it. I had a friend visiting from Boston and he wanted to see a local Boston DJ here. This place was not conducive to a DJ at all. It's a small venue with a tiny dance floor, cramped hallway with an overcrowded bar. It couldn't pull off a club vibe and the music was too loud to lounge, which by my definition is hanging out, talking, and chilling with friends, but it it was to noisy to have a conversation. It's too bad, because most of the space is taken up by tables that would be perfect to lounge at. Clubs can be loud, because you spend most of your time dancing. The crowd was a weird mix and mostly middle aged, I'm guessing, hotel guests. To boot the service was awful, with a horrible bartender that took forever to serve us. I can't believe we paid cover. There are sooo many better places that don't charge you. We only stayed for a short time and then went someplace better, which pretty much could've been anywhere in the city. So to sum it up: too small to dance, too loud to lounge, and the service sucks!!! It has potential (cool venue, cool view) if it came to terms with the fact it is really a lounge and fired that awful bartender. If you like to be shoulder to shoulder on the dance floor, squeezing and fighting to get to one end or the other, and spending the other 1/2 of the night waiting for drinks, this place is for you! I'll stick to the real clubs. You know, with perks like room to dance and the ability to get a drink.
by david s. on basement locatation which has hardly changed over time. lovely old feel, bit divey, and dark you can see some far out artists here. i've seem some weird psycho billy punks, blue grass and indie style stuff here. all of it i'd never heard of but really enjoyed never a queue at the bar, functional staff - little chit chat going on soak up the atmosphere during a good show. always a eclectic crowd for people watching and striking up crazy conversations... a great find.
