I've heard from all my friends that if you are Asian and you like to dance, you better be seen at Kress Fridays. They were pretty right. The minute we saw Hollywood and Whitley there was a long line of Asians in clubbing wear; we knew we had arrived at the right place. Sadly, this place only gets 3 stars instead of 5 because of one frustrating aspect: PARKING. If you're going on a Friday night, don't be a fool and hope to find parking on the street. Instead, expect to drop 20 bucks on parking at one of the public lots. The one right across from Kress was $25 but if you ask nicely they'll probably knock off $5. Expect to pay cover if you're not on the guest list and if you arrive later than like 11:30.  Luckily my boyfriend knew a promoter so when we got there at 11:40 we skipped the line and got in with two VIP passes meaning we didn't have to pay cover. Howlaaa, even though we had just paid 20 bucks for parking -_- This place has 3 floors: the top floor has 2 rooms, with a bar in each room and different music playing in each also. Drinks were pretty standard priced, $26 for a Jack and Coke and a Sex on the Beach. The middle floor is a restaurant area, not much dancing really. The basement is where it's at. Here we found a bunch of drunk beezies rocking to the beat. (we also found two VERY VERY horny people dancing like they had no inhibitions whatsoever, I think the guy actually took his clothes off at one point) The DJ was alright. He played all the pretty mainstream tracks and also threw in a couple old school jams. One complaint though: this might have been the only club I've been to that didn't have air conditioning. If you're going to show up to Kress, expect to lose about 5 lbs of water weight before you walk out the door. It was overall a very fun night!

Not a bad spot for live tunes. If you can get past the overwhelming stench of stale beer-soaked carpet when you walk in, you take in a pretty cool old-school bar. The live music sound is good. The beer selection is good. Parking is not bad in the neighborhood.

I don't know much about Element but I do know about the hidden gem which is around the corner and down the stairs. The Vault. This place is the home of one of the best up and coming House DJ's. DJ Tomo (Tomoyuki Yasuda) which is affiliated with Voice of Voice of NY. Parties are once or twice a month. Hurry and come see him while you can. He's going back to Japan to tour as of March 2007!! He's also the cute cute chef I talked about at Oh! Taisho (Yakitori Taisho). He works on Saturdays nights. The Vault has a nice setting, dark. Drinks won't break your bank. And did I mention the great DJ? Come and dance the night away!! You'll always see me there. ;)
