by nicholas c. on Used to come up quite a bit, a great neighborhood bar - went here for the first time since the remodel last night, they've done an incredible job with it, you have to check it out - the gas lanterns are very charming... A great size crowd was there - even for a Monday. And a call (not well) drink is still only six bucks!! Now where can you find that in Hollywood?
by Irena Frullate on Stopped in for about an hour last night (Wednesday) for a friend's going away party. The guy at the door gave us a speech about how there was a cover b/c of the amazing DJ there that night. I can respect that, but we only wanted to stop by to see our friend and there was nothing on the website stating the cover (I thought I'd seen a $5 cover charge on the website, but realized later I'd been looking at an ad for Thu night's event.) Anyway, I was like fine, ok, and gave him a $20 for 2 people. He gave me back $4. I thought he (and the website) had said it was $5 each, but then he told me no, it was $5 if you RSVP'd, $8 otherwise. We finally went in and discovered that none of our other friends had paid. I guess they'd just started charging b/c it was around 10pm? The whole experience left me with a bad feeling. So if you're coming here to hang out for the night or to see a specific DJ, cool. But if you're just stopping by or meeting up with people, learn from my mistake and come before 10 or call ahead for cover charge info.
by Evonne Aubin on I don't know much about Element but I do know about the hidden gem which is around the corner and down the stairs. The Vault. This place is the home of one of the best up and coming House DJ's. DJ Tomo (Tomoyuki Yasuda) which is affiliated with Voice of Voice of NY. Parties are once or twice a month. Hurry and come see him while you can. He's going back to Japan to tour as of March 2007!! He's also the cute cute chef I talked about at Oh! Taisho (Yakitori Taisho). He works on Saturdays nights. The Vault has a nice setting, dark. Drinks won't break your bank. And did I mention the great DJ? Come and dance the night away!! You'll always see me there. ;)
