Avalon LA is worth a visit once for the spectacle.. but not many people I know venture back for a second visit. The club is massive and you can be entertained for a couple hours wandering around. They also get some of the world's best DJ talent (DJ Craze, Justin Martin, Steve Porter.) But unfortunately the crowd is a bit young and often out of their minds.. so it's not my favorite place to hear dance music. Lack of intimacy and stale vibe gets Avalon two stars.

Ok, so the place is nice. But it's kind of too nice, which makes it sort of tacky. I felt like I was in West Hollywood, which is exactly what I was trying to get away from by moving here. Annnnyway, the plus, is that they have a pretty great Happy Hour; 2-for-1 drinks, that are poured fairly heavy. You can get pretty tipsy for under $20, which is fine by me. A bit of disappointment was the Ken-doll bartender who denied me a Bloody Mary! I wasn't necessarily trying to get it on the 2-for-1 deal, I just wanted one in general. And in my book, if your bar is trying to be all swanky-fly, they should at least have that tasty beverage available. And it's not like he was able to use the "it's too busy, you asked at a wrong time" excuse, because it wasn't THAT crazy-busy (...and besides, if you're a good bar tender, you should be able to toss one out like no ones' biz at anytime! I would of even made my own, had he let me behind the bar!). Oh, and it's filled with lots of dudes with bad patterned, clearance rack Façonnable button downs. Whatever, though I'll return. A girl's gotta drink for cheap in these poor economic times... (Ew, I'm just bein' a angry queen today, aren't I?)
