by Alicia F. on The brainwaves between my feelings & my face are stronger than that of the usual person. So, when we went here the first time, my feelings of confusion and displeasure practically spilled out of my skin and flooded the tiny dining room. I had no expectations because I hadn't read reviews. I had never had Indonesian & when I'm presented with a situation that is foreign to me, I crave the comfort of that ol' familiar menu. But there is no menu! Hence the displeasure. So, I got the $6 dish of three sides & rice. I had tempeh & something else. It was good but I was still reeling from my confusion. Fast forward a month or so. Now knowing what to expect, I went back for more. The people who work here are so friendly. The food is unbeatable value wise. Where else can you get heaping, flavorful plates of rice, tempeh, collared greens & spicy potatoes for $6!? Nowhere that I know of. Hardena always leads to a food coma & always leaves me thirsty, full & happy. There are so many great reviews for a reason & I'm sorry I was so "blah" about it at first.
by jen v. on to get your unce, unce, unce fix, pay $20 (get on the guest list) there's no fancy frills/dress code/rent-a-cops on a power trip here. they bring out the biggest and baddest dj's in the electronic scene frequently. it gets hot. there are fans. has an intimate, underground, dark and local east village feel to it. hmm. you pretty much have to be into the house/trance/electronic scene to appreciate this place. it helps if you know what PLUR means.
