First, I want to say that this is not a sushi restaurant, this is a Japanese restaurant. The sushi menu, although very good and fresh, is not extensive. There is very little sushi roll variety here. We ordered spicy tuna cut roll for appetizer, and it was very good! They have a pretty good variety of sushimi, although no albacore. We also ordered, calamari salad, it was excellent, as well as soup, which came in a tea pot, that was strange, and seemed like they were trying way too hard to be different. it was impossible to eat soup from the tea pot.... For main course, my husband ordered like a seafood jambalaya, which he really liked, and I ordered their black cod, which I really liked, although the presentation of it was not impressive, the fish itself was very good. For side dishes we got wasabi rice, which we really liked and Japanese mushrooms, which were pretty good as well. For desert, we got chocholote mouse case and their brownies, which we both liked. And we ordered their black tea, which was so good, that we had to ask the waiter where they get their tea, so we can buy it to use at home. Service and atmosphere of the restaurant were very pleasant. I would go here again and take out of towners here as well. We had a great time here.

fyi: $10 parking across the street at the kodak center vs. $30 valet but if you're doing alot of "in and out" i guess its okay. as of 8/10/09 kodak center rates: $2 with validation (up to 4 hours) there after $1 per 20 minutes -or- $10 all day pros: -location -nice pool side hang out -fun hip decor -very comfortable beds -bigelow amenities smelled great -pool side meal was good, the mini burgers were the best of the meal. cons: -as mentioned before, "everybody is acting like they are somebody" -particular members of staff by the pool side could tone down their snobbery -our room smelled a bit of left over barf Overall, we all enjoyed staying at the roosevelt.

Went to a birthday party here after my friend's wedding in the first Saturday of November. They were having a 60's theme night there. The DJ's were spinning unbelievably fresh vinyl tunes (DJ Tony the Tyger?). Everyone was dressed the part. Even a mod gang of scooters dressed in oversized coats came rolling the sidewalk. Fresh. Everyone was dancing as well, which is a brilliant sign. Plus, they have chimay on tap. Brilliant! After doing a little research, they do the 60's thing every first saturday of the month. Definitely worth going back again. The decor does remind me of a speakesy (sp?) of the 20's mixed with a plush whorehouse. Very decadent, crushed red velvet feel, bordering on gaudy. Loved it. Definitely a place that makes Los Angeles feel special. 10 dollar cover, but it worth it. It was like being in a time warp.
