Maybe this place gets douchey after 1am, but I'm an old man now and generally don't stay that late at places. I can tell you that from 10-1, I had a great time here. The atrium is really lovely with the lights at night, the drinks are reasonably priced, it wasn't too loud. You can actually have a decent conversation with friends. What's not to like so far? The crowd maybe a bit B+T, but I was there to hang out w/ my peeps and not to look at everyone else and thankfully there's enough space to do that.

THE WORST DINING SERVICE EVER. If you have Maggie as your waitress, beg for someone else's section. Apparently, she think she cute. Sorry - but cute NEVER compensates for competence. She ruined the evening for us - just sheer cluelessness - forgot drink orders, forgot to give us utensils, napkins, gave us the wrong bill, put wrong items on our check - you name it this dimwit did it. Now the service ranting aside - As far as Hollywood trendy a la trendy spots go - this one isn't bad. Yes, they have the annoying velvet rope/list, so we made dinner reservations to avoid any hassle. The place definitely picked up after 11 and the crowd, although older than the usual Hollywood club boppers, was a bit try-too-hard and not exactly a bunch of super models, just people acting like they were. It felt like 9-5ers who put on velvet jackets and were ready to party it up for the weekend. People came dressed nicely, but looking like they've spent too long looking in Details and shopping at Bebe. Service - other than the horrendous god awful Maggie, the bartenders, the door men, and the bouncers were all great. Everyone was friendly and I didn't have too hard of a time talking to people and getting a lay of the land. Food - not very impressive. I ordered the lobster sandwich, friends had the chicken crepes, and herb chicken. Nothing jumped out as spectacular. Music - DJ AM stopped in for a guest set and people seemed to lose their minds. I've seen him a bunch of times and still don't quite get what the hype is all about, but people seemed to be into it and dancing. So it seems I was underwhelmed by the whole experience. But I would be willing to give it another shot - the decor is beautiful and homey, the crowd is older and seemed more into lounging than doing Jaegermeister shots, and the overall vibe was welcoming (so long as you're not eating!). I think this is definitely more of a drinks and lounging spot to check out on the week nights.
