It's always fun to discover new places in the City. For awhile, we've been going to the same places over and over again. Went here on a Friday night ... wasn't too crowded since they haven't officially opened yet. The bouncers and bartenders were pleasant - nothing distasteful like my past experiences at Harlot. I liked the decor - more on the modern and minimalist side. It's so new that you could smell the wood when entering. Not much room to sit unless you're getting bottle service and very limited dance room if you are looking for a place to dance. Bathrooms are unisex and nothing too memorable about it. My favorite part about this place is that parking is pretty easy around there which is nice! So long as this place doesn't get too crowded and isn't hard to get into, then it's definitely a great night option. Worth a visit. You'll see a pretty mixed crowd of folks for now ...

The turkey burger was ok. It needed seasoning. The sweet potato fries were not that great. I have had better ones at Bumsteds and Zin Burger in Tucson. The regular burgers were better and so were the regular fries. My burger came with a cucumber sauce that was really good! The aioli was meh. I liked the atmosphere and the beer list was really great. It is expensive there but at least now you know cause I just told you. Will go back for the regular burger.

DRINK UP KIDDIES, THERE'S MUSIC IN THURRR. when seeing instrumental and vocal performances, i'm more used to quiet lounges such as pearl's or yoshi's or cafe du nord. this place is half a lounge, half a bar, and half a performing stage, and, yes, i've taken calculus so it does add up. the sounds are good, though the speaker system was acting up on the opening act the night i went, much to his anger [instead of joking around about it], which nearly got him booed off the stage. but when jose gonzalez and friends showed up, everyone quieted the hell down and took it in. even though we had a table seat on the first half-level, people were crowding around the front of the stage and i was only able to see his fro for a good portion of the night. so there's mistake number one- they have standing-room directly in front of the stage. being a filipino man of average height, it wasn't easy to see the faces of the performers onstage if they take a sitting position when there are so many tall people in the way. these people need to be watching from afar [read: very back] while me and everyone else who got there an hour earlier to get a 'good seat' can get our money's worth. the drinks range from average to weak [though noticeably less so as the night wears on if you order more than three or four] but the service is attentive, though they only take cash if they come to you at a table. the entire time, people were filing in and out of the standing-room area, making the place feel too busy. then you have stupid people standing directly in front of your view because they forget that there are people sitting behind them. only after happily smashing a bottle of miller high life on their thick skulls do they actually move. the crowd is very mixed, i even saw a cowboy walking around, but you're in san francisco so you're used to it. parking is as hard as it gets in north beach, but it's close enough to the water and the tourist district that you can get into a paid lot anywhere there. most of the lots on columbus itself are either machine-paid or close at 10, so be careful. so all in all, bimbo's is a great place to catch a show, just don't sit on the floor-level tables on a crowded night because you won't see the performer at all. try not to sit close to the entrance because there'll be too many people walking around and it'll seem like a bus station. bring cash because cocktail servers don't take credit cards. and be careful about parking in nearby lots, they might close at 10.
