Like many, I am a fan of Iron Chef and Chef Morimoto in particular. Stopped by last week, a barely half full dining room made me a little nervous... perhaps a sign of the times? But then again, we were having an earlier dinner on a Thursday. Enjoyed chef's combination sushi, which consisted of 9 pieces of nigiri and 1 roll for the price of $30, quite reasonable. Fresh and quality slices of fish but I thought the sushi rice was a little hard. Miso black cod was on the menu, so I had to order it. It was flavorful, crisply charred on the skin side and definitely delicious. The dessert special for that day was an homage to back to school: ice cream with peanut butter, jelly and cheese crackers (perhaps goldfish crackers?). Sounds strange, but the combination worked and it was tasty. Who knew lunch box goodies could be a scrumptious dessert? Great Service. Our server was professional and friendly, dishes were presented at a nice pace and the manager stopped by to check up on us.

Whether it's the proper pint up at the bar served up by Gary or a Tuesday special of a Chicken Pot Pie, or maybe a Black & Tan brought to you at your table by the proprietor, Martin, this place has the market cornered... A true zone of antiquity in a rapidly desensitized Soho neighborhood, this Bar is flanked by some giant sterile glass apartment buildings that rival that of the dreaded Meyer Towers... Forever a West Soho staple right up to the shoreline, this is a timeless place where the pints are always full and the plates are too. Reasonably priced, trusty food is the name of the game here, nothing too fancy. On Sunday's let the 'Earregulars' give you an earfull of Jazz while you grab a mouthful of their garlic shrimp or the pork chop.
