by Pam A. on For a fun night with great people, kind servers, and lots of pop music, head to Fado! I went to the Buckhead pub last night for a friend's birthday party. Our first 30 or so minutes were not so enjoyable because the place was packed- which is probably a good sign, but I needed a few more beers before I could feel comfortable with my sardine-like situation. We had a large group and as such, we had lots of people trying to scope out a good spot for us to hang out. Luckily, Fado has lots of tables, and a bunch of different areas, hallways, and corners. We were able to snag a table that was, somehow, conveniently located 2 feet in one direction to the bar, and 2 feet in the other direction to the bathroom. The dance floor (or what I thought was the dance floor, there was a mass of people that were all swaying around) was not too far away either. Once we had a table, I was enjoying myself a lot more. Had I stayed much longer crammed next to a bar with people shoving me around and drinks getting spilled on me, I would not have been a happy camper. Usually I like more chill places, but now I know I can count on Fado for a crazy time if that is what I desire. The crowd was full of lots of Buckhead yuppies- which I happen to be as well, so I thought it was fun. Also the first time I've been to a bar that crazy and not seen guys creeping all over the girls on the dance floor... so the class level of the patrons is a little higher than normal. As a final bonus - we parked for free on a side street nearby, and cabbed it back home. 11am the next day the car was still there with no ticket! Yay!
by Lester W. on This event is totally worth if if you have never been to the Academy of Sciences before. However, if you have been here before, it's really not that different except for the following: 1. No kids allowed (this is a 21+ event) 2. You can walk around in *most* of the areas with a drink in your hand 3. Once it gets crowded, you'll end up with people spilling their drinks on you 4. It doesn't help that some of them are drunk 5. There is music playing in the background Don't expect any premium types of alcohol. They had some Kettle One and a bunch of other brands I had never heard of. Mostly well drink material. This is an interesting concept, but I don't see myself coming back again since its already my second visit to the museum and not much has changed.
