by michael m. on As my first exposure to Southern cooking while actually in the South, I was hoping for quite a taste, and was definitely not disappointed! The menu was certainly filled with classics, but also given that rather high-quality edge. The environment was very comfortable, though a bit packed. The service was a bit slow and the parking was abysmal, but overall I'd certainly visit it again =)
by Justin C. on Best music in town. Don't dress in layers here because, inside this happenin' place, it gets downright tropical. Freeze your ass off on the way over, but seriously, wear a silk shirt or a soccer jersey (guys) because it gets hot hot hot inside. Girls, wear your mini-skirts and show some leg, dammit. If you have nice gams, Baobab is a great place to show them off. Even functionally, ça marche. When it's hot, wear less clothing! :) Just a suggestion to SF girls: Dress like the hot feminine girls in NYC, LA, London, Hong Kong and Paris for once! More skirts, less blue jeans please. San Francisco has too many girls-wearing-jeans-to-go-out for my liking, but whatever. I digress. Marco plays the best stuff, and all the hits I recognized from Paris and Marseille can be heard in, of all places, San Francisco, CA!! Did I mention that it's hot and humid inside? Okay, good! Go to Baobab and dance the night away, buy lots of drinks, tip your bartender, and be careful not to damage the "Le footballer" painting on the wall that I hope Marco will sell to me someday! :)
