I like this place but I'm not overly impressed. Really cool atmosphere, chi-chi bar, but probably not a good idea for a date. We came here for the "snow day" promo (tweet that) and it was packed. There were 6 inches separating the tables so it felt like a group date. Lots of leaning & yelling to stay engaged in our own conversation. Nothing on the menu particularly called out to me so I settled on the scallops and shrimp ravioli upon the server's suggestion. Scallops were sweet but I've had comparable at other nice places like Mitra or Dolce. They make their own pasta but the shrimp raviolis tasted like potstickers. It was served with carrots. I don't think there was enough salty to balance out the sweet. He had the venison with parsnip puree, thin beef jerky wrapped parsnip, and salsify. It was probably the most exotic thing on the menu and was moist, balanced, and delicious. We were medicated so we couldn't participate in the extensive and inviting wine list. On another occasion I had the kit kat bar & peanut butter ice cream - thick, rich, and sweet. The dish towel napkins were out of place, unsightly, and linty, so ask for a black napkin. Overall, nice but I don't think I'd come back to pay full price for my meal.

As I was reading all the horrible reviews, it dawned on me that sometimes these reviews don't mean squat to businesses that are doing well even during this economic crisis. Maybe I'm biased because I have had great and attentive service when I've gotten tables there and haven't had much trouble getting in. The guy-girl ratio is just good business and it works. Slide is always busy and people are always waiting in line and mind you the security are doing what the establishment managers are enforcing. Going with that mind set, I've also had plan b's, and used them the times I was denied access to the club. Now for the fun stuff.... I work at a liquor store that stays open until 2am and never closes for holidays or nothing, and unfortunately over the years I've gotten a stick up my a$$ for all the fat, ugly, sloppy, stumbling, wanna-be-gangster, wanna-be-hipster, wanna-be-yuppie, wanna-be-euro-trash, cheap mo-fo's that have asked me for some ridiculous discount, or made perverted sexual comments, or racist comments, sober or drunk, and I've tried hard to keep a pleasant demeanor for the sake of the business but it's harder and harder to do my job with a smile when former dorks and washed up jocks invade my personal life with their issues. Why am I sharing this? Because I think I know why sometimes those security people seem like jerks. Last night I took my girlfriends from so. Cal. to Slide and as I was waiting for them outside around 11am, it was chaos. People in the wrong line because Ruby Skye's next door. Then dudes trying to grab girls on the street. People with fake ids and girls wearing very little trying to use their sexual wiles to not have to wait in line was a sight to see. Cuz, you and I both know, they know it's all bull. Being nice goes a long way. Actually, that was more fun than being inside at one point. It reminded me of work but I wasn't on the crappy receiving end, I was just an observer. Anyhoo, this review is long and probably not helpful, but I felt I might share my perspective in case anyone is taking it personal. Sometimes it's just work. So my point is, I'm a fan of Slide for its music and DJs, for the security persons for doing their jobs, and for the yummy bartenders. And I wonder if those who have been denied have gone back anyway.... I have, that's why I wonder.... LOL!
