Tao is a place that you should experience at least once. The food is great, even better if there is a group so that you can share. The decor is amazing to take in, being in such a cavernous space. The service in the dining area is excellent although on several occasions they've been stuck up in the lounge area. Other than a one time deal or group occasion, I think at this point the place is pretty much a corporate card kind of venue. Great to take out of towners to on someone else's dime because the prices add up pretty quickly. It's not necessarily a bad thing but that's who it seems they're targeting especially when you look out onto the dining room and see a sea of suits.

Half price cocktails till 9pm? Genius! The drinks are great- very mixologisty... Muddled fresh fruits and a whole lot of cocktail shakers. I loved the "Ella," and liked the PYT. Very cute and friendly hipster bartenders hold court in this very well-designed space... I love pre-9pm Ella!! Never been to post-9pm Ella, which is probably like everywhere else- bouncer, tables, etc... But for a late happy hour, this is my new spot. Watch out Four Squarers, I'm the next mayor.

I was in town visiting some old friends who wanted to sing Karoke. This was such an odd, but fun experience. We drove out in the country a bit past several trailer parks to get to this night club. It looks like a strip club on the outside, but is an odd mix of class and race on the inside. The karoke section of the bar is mostly old, white hicks singing country (worst attempt at karoke I've heard- from singer to singer). We added our songs and had some fun. Past the karoke part, however, was the hip-hop part of the nightclub. Thick black girls wearing very little and mostly 21-30 y/o "urban" styled guys smirked as they passed the karoke section on their way to the hip-hop part. What an odd mix! For this 27-year-old white girl, I enjoyed the mix and spent a little time in both parts of the bar. Pepper herself even came by our table at the end of the night to chat. She was friendly, and seemed cool. The bouncers roaming the parking lot with tasers after the bar closed was a bit scary, but they kept the closing time fights to null. It was a strange experience, but I'd definitely go back.

Two of my friends and I went here to find a bar/restaurant that allowed smoking since our city banned smoking and we waited for 15 minutes before someone popped out of the back of the bar and said someone would be right with us but then waited another 15 minutes for the owner to come out and ask us what we wanted. They don\'t have pizza like their ad says, they don\'t have happy hour like their ad says and the owner was pasty and scary looking and then the karaoke came on with religious songs...
