Went to SOB's Saturday night with a friend and could not believe how rude the staff is. First they let my friend go inside after checking his ID but wouldn't let me follow. I was standing there waiting for the bouncer to check my ID for a good 10 minutes, even though I told him I was with the buy who was waiting literally 3 feet away. That's fine. Mistakes happen. But on our way out, we thought that we'd exit the same way we came in. There was a bouncer standing in front of the door there (another one than the one who checked IDs). As my friend walked past him to get to the door, this complete dick decided to body check my friend into the wall and keep him pinned there with his shoulder. Why? Because "the exit was on the other side." Literally that's it. He had my friend pinned to the wall just to tell him that the exit was three feet behind us. And when we told him *politely* that there was no need to get physical, he asked if we wanted to take it outside. Seriously. For what it's worth, the place is OK and there is space for dancing. But the set-up is a bit weird with little distinction between the dining area and the dance floor. Drinks were $11 for a well drink (a vodka tonic or rum & coke), which I think is definitely overpriced for a place like this.

This club probably wanted to save some money on it's transformation of an old Federal Savings and Loan Association building to a nightclub, so they kept it as "The Bank" nightclub. Pretty crafty. But honestly it does make for a colder and more disconnected feel. The main floor is big - but the light colored tiled floor and overall interior that still looks and feels like a bank, makes you drink more so that you don't think you're in a bank anymore. Ahh, now I get it! It's not so bad - it gets a pretty solid suburban crowd. Being on the eastside - a solid portion of the patrons range from see and be seen, to the trendy offspring of the Macomb County blue collar class. You can notice some subtle differences from the Royal Oak regular crowds - but not in a bad way. The drink prices are fair, and the girl to guy ratio is pretty good, and the ladies are definitely on the good-looking and dressed well end of the spectrum. The space is big, and can accommodate a large-size clubbing crowd, but it makes it so that unless there's a good showing on the night you're there, it can feel a tad empty until peak hours at minimum. While all the glass walls, interior decor, and fancy accents are nice, to me they all still felt more like a bank then my picture of an ideal dance club. It's does get the award for being one of the most unique themes in the area though, for a nightclub at least. There's a basement lair that is a little more intimate, cozier and feels like a more familiar club. I really like the basement lair. The main dance floor is probably best to get your boogie on though. Then there's a upper balcony VIP floor that looks down to the main floor, but I have never been so lucky to have went there - yet! Who knows what goodies lie there? There are ATM machines on the main floor; so maybe VIP has live tellers you can withdraw money from to purchase bottle service?? It IS "The Bank" after all. Haha, JK. All in all, if you want to tour/try the best nightlife Metro Detroit has to offer, "suburban edition," then The Bank is a must as a pit stop. Check it out for yourself and see what you think. I personally thought it was above average, but I just didn't fall in love with it, that's all.
