What a fabulously intimate venue! My friends and I saw Miranda Lee Richards here and had a great time. Friendly bar staff and nice selection on draft. Loved the pool table in the back. They don't serve food here, but there are plenty of great eateries in the area. I can't wait to see what other artists pop up here. P.S. Parking is free if you find a spot on the street by the Safeway.

The Moshulu is a pretty neat setting, I'm quite fond of the look of the boat & the Bongo deck in the summer is pretty nice (although I've only experienced the deck on Saturday night when Paper Street takes over for it's weekly "Mojito" parties and I don't think you can either praise or condemn the Mushulu for what goes on then - but the outdoor deck on Moshulu itself still provides for a great summer partying setting). It's certainly a very, very neat place to go or especially take someone...until you get to the food. Its just not all that good (& I've eaten dinner here twice now - the 2nd time only because I had a gift certificate). The food is not really bad, at least none of my experiences were actually bad, its just really really not impressive or fantastic or memorable - especially for what you pay. This place is WAY overpriced and in my opinion the menu is way too sparse as well. If you go here because you think you're going to be treated to some great seafood, think again. Trust me there are so so so many more places in Philadelphia you can go and see a larger menu with kitchens who turn out better food and the price will be comparable if not cheaper. Off the top of my head if I think I want good seafood I remember my experiences at McCormick & Schmick at City Hall or Zesty's in Manayunk (this place is Mediterranean - YUM). And if you really want that boat experience then head over to The Oceanaire Seafood Room in Washington Square. While it may not be my favorite place for seafood & you're not actually on the water its still way better than Moshulu (OMG their crabcakes!!) plus they pulled off the "dining in a 1920's-40's luxury ocean liner" theme very, very well. If you're really interested by the place due to its nifty boat setting or you've got visitors in town who absolutely are insisting on checking it out - go ahead, I don't see it killing you. Just don't expect much from it other than a large bill.

When this place first opened up - I would always come here, get completely trashed, and proceed to dance like Elaine on Seinfeld. Everyone in our group would have a great time though. These days it can be more ghetto-fab than I can handle at times, but I still can't believe they have never thrown me out for all the fights I've been into here. Sorry Rateclubers, I save the good stories for close friends only.... :)
