Came here for a business dinner last night -- great place! The food was absolutely amazing!! I was impressed with every single dish -- which is rare. Awesome music, beautiful modern decor, and top notch service. PERFECT! Some of our favorites (everything)....scallops, ribeye, carpaccio, pork, sushi, sashimi, lobster tempura blossoms, garlic edamame, kobe beef and egglant, roasted vegetables. Dessert was perfect.....green tea creme brulee, trio of ice cream, and bignets. I really like how you can see the entire kitchen and the chefs acknowledge the diners when walking by. I am already thinking about when I want to come back! Not only is the restaurant amazing, there is a very chic bar/lounge on the other side which looks like a cool place to chill, listen to music, and have some drinks.

You know what, the fact that they weren't going to let my boyfriend in wasn't that big of a deal. He was dressed cute(guy cute) and he was wearing a baseball hat and sandals. Luckily, the had his backpack with him and could of easily changed out of them. What REALLY pissed off the group was the Douche of a door guy. That elitist attitude and just flat out rudeness. When the girls walked up, we were fine, of course. He made some rude comment about my friends anatomy. Yeah, she's hot but, she'd also kick your ass buddy, and that was truly uncalled for. Second, when he saw the guys he didn't even say anything, he just pointed and snapped at my boyfriend's hat. What the fuck you jerk. We were done. Here's the kicker when we walked by the window there was a guy sitting with a hat on!!! We had no problem over at Le Colonial.

This hidden spot in a converted abandoned building just off of Peachtree Street is an instant success. The newest addition to Fifth Group restaurants family, Ecco offers a snazzy little spot for fine wines, cheeses, and charcuterie. The small plates are perfect for sharing and ogling at the pretty crowd. The mostly Italian style menu offers something for everyone. The desserts are worth saving room for. It should be noted that this is one of the most handsome new spaces I have seen in a very long time in our city. The chocolate brown wood accents and leather covered comfortable chairs add to a charming, sophisticated, and down right good looking dining room. The bar area is cozy and with a small patio to get some air. I'm looking forward to second visit. Update/addition to my first review: The restaurant has matured gracefully and continues to impress. The staff and management are top notch which always adds to the experience. I had the pleasure of dining on a price fix meal Friday night for a going away party of a friend. The menu included some greatest hits from the regular menu as well as some surprises. The first course was a trio of small plates that included fried goat cheese, garlic grilled shrimp, and gosh I can't remebr the third item. None the less it was a delightful start of tastes for what was to come. My only complaint is that the shrimp were not deveined. I have a few pet peeves when it comes to food prep and that is one of them. Another biggy is spinach that isn't de-stemmed, but I digress. The second course was cheeses and salumi, and proscuitto. Fantastic. Next came grilled white asparagus and tomatoes, and a nice frisee salad. Frisee isn't my favorite salad green, but the light dressing and radish garnish was a welcomed fresh foil to the fatty meats and cheeses of the previous course. As if there were any room left in my stomach the main plates arrived with grilled hangar steak, fresh papradelle pasta with braised pork, and a margaritta pizza. Although the pasta dish with its braised pork seemed to appear out of season and would be better fitted on a fall/winter menu, it was surpisingly light and turned out to be my favorite dish of the evening. It is never easy for a restaurant to serve a large group efficiantly and deliciously but Ecco pulled it off flawlessly. My wine glass was never empty, the bread basket was always full, and the courses of food were absolutely outstanding. Perhaps a bit dissapointing were the desserts which included a chocalote tart, a rum cake, and a some average chocolate chip cookies. It didn't matter though, because the meal itself was so incredible. Some other thoughts...the wine list can be a bit intimidating, but the staff are well informed and can help you with a selection. The bar at Ecco has become the place to be in Midtown and drwas quite a crowd. The crowd takes away a bit of the coziness I previoulsy reported, but I am not complaining as it is quite the place to watch the pretty people. I also feel like the menu is a bit off-putting to some folks. It is indeed quite gourmet, and may be unfamiliar to some. But welcome it as a wonderful change to the awful "Fusion" trend that took over our city for the past few years. This food is authentic and and at its core is quite simple, but that is what makes it so good. Thanks goodness the owners of Ecco didn't add a sushi menu, they had a defined and distinct focus whith their concept and it shows.
