It's pronounced FOURTEEN, not X-I-V like I go around saying. I kind of have a problem with the name. If people ask what restaurant you recommend and you say "FOURTEEN" they're most likely going to type in "F-O-U-R-T-E-E-N" or even "1-4" on rateclubs. They're not going to be like "Oh! FOURTEEN... and type in "X-I-V" unless they're obsessed with Roman Numerals and that's how they write numbers on an every day basis. Well, enough about the name of the place. I'm sure most of you read rateclubs to find out how the food is, not some analysis on the restaurant name. I came here for DineLA and was pretty excited until I pulled into the parking lot. My first thought was, "HEY! I've already been here. This was a club 2 years ago.. UGH, I'm eating at a USED TO BE CLUB?!" But that thought quickly disappeared cause honestly, I've eaten at restaurant by early evening/club by 9:00 PM before (and fyi, don't do that cause the food generally sucks). XIV by Michael Mina is a SBE restaurant so it has a similar vibe to The Bazaar. The restaurant was pretty packed so my friend and I hung out by the bar while we waited for our table. The bar is pretty small and within a few minutes, it got really packed. Dinner was good. Nothing memorable. Service was good but something felt off. I got a weird vibe. The service wasn't bad so I can't complain about that, but something was off. I think a part of me felt like I would get scolded like a little child if I touched something I wasn't supposed to or if I talked to loudly. And I've been to plenty of nice restaurants and I don't even get a weird vibe from there. Anyway, enough talk about my "weird vibes"... This is what we ordered: - Tataki of American Wagyu Skirt - MMM YUM! I love meat so I'll generally enjoy it and eat it all. It's an American Wagyu so it's soft with a melt in your mouth kind of texture. - Jidori Chicken - I hate overcooked, dry chicken and thankfully, the Jidori Chicken did not have that problem! The portions were big, and the Truffled Mac & Cheese complimented the chicken well. (Ha ha! Did I really just use the word "complimented".. I sound like I'm on Top Chef!) - Nutella Custard - Disappointing! I expected like this uber delicious creation, but it failed to meet my expectations. It was good, but if I ordered it on a non-DineLA menu, I would have probably been annoyed. - Root Beer Float & Cookie - It's a Root Beer Float. You can't go wrong with it. - Yuzu Curd - Ok, this dessert came out by accident so they let us keep it. First off, the name is not very pretty. I kept thinking "curd.. curd.. curd.. turd.. turd.. curd..??" It tasted like Fruity Pebbles with a hint of Grass. YES, Fruity Pebbles + Grass. So unless you like that flavor, you can skip this. Overall, it was a good DineLA dining experience. I would not come here normally, but with DineLA prices and options, it's almost worth it. My favorite part had to be the Jidori Chicken, but there are plenty of places in LA you can find moist, comforting chicken w/ a side of mac & cheese.

pretty good music, good dancing, i go often neighborhood is kinda ghetto like most part in SF. Oh, it's kinda hard to find at first because all you can see is some chinese restaurant sign. Ppl are dressed pretty nice and pretty clean inside. get on guestlist and go early to get in for free :) There are two main dance floors one on first floor and one on basement. Both get pretty crowded.
