by Melodie Oberlies on OK so many mixed reviews..... First Opera Night Club is a overhauled 1920's Opera House turned into a nightclub, first 1150 which I have never been to. But read old reviews about it and there were some mixed reviews about it as well for those who have never been to 1150 as well. There are 4 areas to Opera. 1 main area with 2 side bars, 2nd the back room called the Venetian Room with 2 bars, 3rd the outside area with 2 bars, 4th upstairs the VIP area with 1 bar. I saw many complaints about lines, many clubs will have lines, even at Mansion Miami, FL. And then complaints about crowds, do u want to go to a place that is dead??? the place is about money $$$ why would they want it not to be crowded.?? I have been there many times and and still frequent on weekends and never had problems getting in. I made friends with a promoter and I always get in free as long as i get there before 1130 and on occasion the promoter will give me and my friend complimentary VIP arm bands. Being on the regular guest list can be BS at times so get there in time to get through the line before 1130 plain and simple. The the doormen and bouncers are there to do a job, and they have a boss to answer to as well. As we all have jobs and boss' to answer to. And if we don't do as were told we get in trouble. The bouncers/doormen are on the same boat. Some are rude but they are not part of Customer Service they are there for security. I have never seen a fight breakout b/c the bouncers take care of things quickly. Lastly... thing about dress code and stuff...now i do agree i have seen lots of dudes with way to tight of shirts on. but if your going to a nightclub would u rather see Abercrombie and Fitch or people dressed of a much higher caliber...
by Shelley C. on What great time! My friends and I have been waiting for Roe to reopen it's doors from the remodel and were we ever pleasantly surprised. Not only did the space get a face lift, the chef has taken a whole new twist. We found out that he went to Spain and became a 'Stag' which added delicious new elements to his repertoire. So, now there is a taste of Spain, France and Japanese...delicious! The service was also fantastic, even the manager checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our experience. Since it was a Saturday night the club opened up and we danced all night- if you like deep house--this is the place! Whew! I'm definitely planning my birthday party here!
by Shayla Reven on A long time Ago I said that Trudy's was a fine place to get smacked upside the head, and that sentiment has not changed. Trudy is like that girl that, you love, connect with, and share great things with, and then right before your very eyes she goes out and gets a really bad haircut. Trudy has gotten somewhat better in recent years as she has diversified her menu and atmosphere. I recommend going early on a weeknight when happy hour prices make you disbelieve your bill and you can really choose your environment. They have recently expanded parking lot seating, thus enhancing one of the best features of the place. I like the parking lot as it is quieter, more scenic and full of people gazing. Tables are larger and More suited to 8 of your closest friends. Their food as of late has come unto its own, with their many flavors of quesadilla. Their menu has expanded to include more southern fare at attractive prices. Their drink menu has likewise diversified while maintaining the oldie but goodie Mexican martini. If you want to get loaded and play a fun drinking game, you can come up with new ways to con the wait staff into serving you more than two. Good times good times. Indeed gimmicks and all, they have certainly established themselves as a premiere margaritatorium. So there we were 8 friends sitting in the parking lot, celebrating chatting connecting and dining on a smorgasbord of delicious quesadillas. I started to wonder if my previous bad experiences here might not have just been a bad hangover. Then the music started to play VERY LOUDLY I mean I had to stuff napkins in my ears to keep it from perforating my eardrums, and even then I still haven't recovered. Trudy My darling you have let me down once again. I like to hear my friends and choose to enjoy the music. At the volume they were playing it this was impossible. We told the waiter that we were in severe pain from the sudden increase in music volume, and yet he was powerless to turn it down. We begged we pleaded, but it fell upon deaf ears, no doubt deaf because they listen to that godamned racket every night. I spent the rest of the evening with paper wadded up in my ears, watching people flee the place unable to even hear their goodbyes.
