So I nearly explain to the security that I lost my iPhone and to keep a look out For it and I get berated for being "demanding" what a professional group of security (sacrastically of course).

So what did Rosie C. get for her birthday you ask? I received the best gift of all! A new favorite cuisine at a new favorite restaurant in a new favorite neighborhood! (in addition to other fabulous apparel, accessory and makeup items) In theory, I am not fan of Moroccan cuisine. The idea of mixing fruit and meat and spicy and sweet...has always just struck me as odd, based on nothing other than the idea of it. Upon learning that we would be celebrating (yet again....) my birthday here I was somewhat apprehensive....yet curious. Large and spacious with jewel and earth toned walls and decor, Medjool is warm and inviting in every aspect. We were welcomed and thanked for our visit immediately upon arrival...not what I would expect in the ultra trendy "Mish" but quite nice. Amazed to learn this lovely restaurant turns into a club late night on weekends and features a dine-in roof deck (to cold and windy for this visit) and an affordable hostel..."Why is this my first visit?" is all that seems to be running through my head. My husband and I let the folks do most of the ordering, given that he also shares the same food apprehensions (only worse). As the dishes arrived we opened our mouths...and braced ourselves....were we astonished. Sweet and spicy, fruit and meat, crispy and creamy...is actually quite nice. Local winter vegetable b'stilla with goat cheese- Quite possibly the most delicious thing I have ever tasted, ever in life, EVER. The cheese melds perfectly with the soft muted vegetables, encapsulated in a crispy flakey warm phillo crust and coated with nuts. ART ON A PLATE! Chicken with Almond and Pomegranate Sauce- (two orders) my husband and I kicking each other under the table, how are we going to eat this....and WOW! This is delicious, even my terrible two year old that prefers a diet of peas, corn and applesauce is digging this combination. Filo wrapped sea bass- After a negative Sea Bass experience the previous night I was hoping for the best...but prepared for the bland...and I was completely impressed. The sea bass was cooked just right and packed with flavor. The vegetables in red pepper sauce added the perfect compliment to this dish. Black Cod with Saffron Gnocchi and Fava Beans- I have never tasted Cod so wonderful in all my life. It was tender enough to break apart with a fork, juicy and tasty. The fava beans and Gnocchi were delicious as well. Bacon Wrapped Squid with Squid Ink Risotto- The Risotto was cooked to the perfect consistency. This dish was a little too salty, but holds great potential. We will be back this weekend to enjoy the roof deck, what a fabulous find!
