I'm a big fan of aquariums. I've loved the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the California Academy of Sciences, so while I was on the east coast I thought it would be great to see this new, amazing aquarium. Yes, the whale sharks are awesome. That was completely worth the $30 admission price. The staff in that part of the aquarium was very kind and knowledgeable, answering all of our questions about the various sharks/rays/other fish in the exhibit. I enjoyed the set up for the exhibit, with the walk through tunnel as well as a viewing room with the huge aquarium window. I also liked the small wall explaining how they shipped the sharks (UPS, I loved it). Something everyone should see. This part of the aquarium alone earned three stars for this review. The design of the aquarium is very friendly and not confusing, you can find each section easily and walk through it in a very linear fashion. The other exhibits had some interesting sea life I hadn't seen (the eels popping out of the sand were a favorite) and since I was there on a weekday, it was not packed with strollers/hoards of people. So my overall experience was good, and I would recommend visiting at least once. However, I was turned off by this aquarium just from it's seeming lack of focus on research and conservation. It felt like a watered-down (no pun intended)/Disneyland version of an aquarium. Each exhibit is blatantly sponsored by AIRTRAN or HOME DEPOT, which while I am aware their sponsorship is necessary to provide these exhibits, it doesn't need to be stated so overtly. Walking through the other areas of the aquarium felt like waiting in line for a ride at Disneyland (specifically the River Scout section - felt like Indiana Jones). The exhibits also lacked information regarding how keeping these animals will benefit them in the wild - the only time I came upon this information was listening to the phone tour for the whale sharks. Overall, this is worth a visit, and is probably more friendly to families rather than adults who are looking to learn from what they are seeing.

Whatllyahave? Whatllyahave? A really mediocre fast-food meal of course! This place is an Atlanta institution and when you visit you can see why. Great downtown location, right off of 85, tons of parking, in-car drive-up service, and a million people screaming "whatllyahave" at you until you actually, you know, have something. So, for the originality, the experience, and the Atanta-ish obligation, I say go here. Just don't expect the food to be worth anything. The hot dog was tiny and bla, as was the chili. The onion rings were marginally better, but still nothing special. Someone told me that the Varsity was the "in-n-out of the South". That would be massively incorrect. Still, when in Atlanta, you might want to check it out to say you've been there.
