by Dane Kiedrowski on There was some of the worst DJ-ing I've ever heard here. Sorry, it WAS a Tuesday, but sure if that's an excuse....ever. It was old old mainstream hip hop, mixed with house/rihanna type remixes. The crowd was also kind weird ranging from pino b-boys to 40 year old crazy ladies trying to tear up the dancefloor while running into people. The drink specials were cheap, and the glass decor on the ceiling was tight. However, the place was definitely not swanky, more of a warehouse/arthouse vibe. (aka black paint)
by Belinda S. on When I came here many, many years ago... when the venue opened. One thing that I noticed is that LA clubbers wear purses which I thought was weird back then. It's just extra stuff to carry! What do you need besides $ and your cell phone and lipgloss? Nonetheless, the guys werent as agressive and there was plenty of floor space for everyone. The line was pretty horrendous though, good thing I cut. haha
by Clifford Rostad on PLUS - Consistent good times since the day it opened - from my birthday feast here 7.5 years ago to some brown man jiving this past Thanksgiving weekend. MINUS - Consistently saving female friends from aggressive predatory vampires roaming the dancefloor in search of easy coochie coochie. PLUS: The music is awesome. Dancehall, African, Arabic, salsa. Great vibes emanating from the DJ's laptop. MINUS: The heat sucks. Especially when you try to take your water outside to cool off for 5 minutes but you learn that you can't because the bouncer has closed up that 2 foot fenced off patio for the night. PLUS: The drinks made with ginger, tamarind, or hibiscus are all great. MINUS: I can't think of any others. Little Baobab thus ends up with a positive surplus. Highly recommended to folks looking for something different than the usual bar/club scene. This is your little microcosm of internationalism right here. I may no longer live in walking distance, but I'll be back as often as I can. 4 stars.
