It's really my fault that I keep on coming back. I'm an advocate for the Fillmore district, but this place, come on! That said, the Jazz club part is cool, I like the tiered set up, tables, dance floor and stage. That's it Yoshi's got though. The restaurant part is blah and extremely overpriced. The only decent thing on the menu is the bar popcorn. I've been there for dinner and happy hour and have never been satisfied with my rolls. My dinner experience was horrible, the server went through explaining the menu to us like we were idiots who never ordered Japanese food and overly stressed how to read the menu from x to y side, first, second blah blah blah. After making a big deal about the order to read the menu, she decided to fuck up the order of the food bringing out our tempura rolls first and saving the edamane for last. The worst part about blah food and blah service, paying a foot and leg for it. I want to say dinner was $50+ each, NO ALCOHOL. Back to the nightlife there, such a big place but they can never have enough staff there. I'm stuck waiting 10-15 minutes for a cocktail or food. Please note, I actually find the bartenders to be really cool, helpful and efficient; they are just really understaffed and being slammed (which is the complete opposite of the wait staff). Although my review is negative, I do love the Fillmore area and will be back "hoping" one day, they'll get it right... Another thing I'd like to see is someone actually checking coats. They have an area to check coats, but NO ONE is ever there to take it... Hmmm.

Ok...so this place will always be special. Here's why: My wife and I will be moving to Philly this summer. We were in town during spring break to check out apartments and stuff. This is sort of the first restaurant we went to after signing our lease for what will potentially be our home for the next few years. Anyways, I digress.... The place has a very cozy, intimate feel, mainly because of the lighting. The bartender whipped up the most amazing Key Lime Martini I have ever had...so definitely a good beginning to the night. I ordered the Pasta Bolognese which was delicious. I also shared stuffed mushrooms with my wife...not 5* but definitely 4. All in all, a good date/family restaurant. Btw, it does get pretty warm, especially in the back section (which is nicer)...so prepare to peel off a few layers.
