Clearly, at a music venue what matters is the sound and the space, right? Perhaps.  And since the Brooklyn version of The Knitting Factory has a nice big room with undeniably excellent acoustics (and a pro caliber operation at the mixing desk) it's a slam dunk, right? Perhaps...not.  There are a number of things that make the place a real drag: First, no glass--which means plastic cups for beers and drinks alike, and that means your pricey brews and cocktails are gonna taste pretty lousy.  Second, no credit cards at the ticket counter or the bar, and no ATM on the premises.  (In 2010, this seems like a slap in the face more than anything else.)  Finally, the security--even on a quiet night with a relaxed crowd--is unpleasant and abrasive, as if they've confused their position with that of someone working at a big, rowdy Manhattan rock club on the busiest night of the year. If I absolutely had to go back, I'd probably get my drunk on elsewhere and show up on the late side, to maximize the time listening to the music, and minimize the time I had to deal with any other part of the experience.

Going out with people that arent from Atlanta.  1st day of spring, and they convince the hostess that, sure, we'll wait 20 minutes for a table outside...cause after all its spring.  Not wanting to be a party pooper and mention uh.....its still March...and its 9:30 at nite...its going to be chilly...we wait 20 mins and we are sat outside as requested...this would have been great if there were heaters or fire pits out there, but alas....no....so chilly start to the night.  After about 5 minutes, I suggested...hey....we are about to spend up to $40 per person...do we want to shiver and shake while we wait on it...and eat it....somehow, my friends whose birthday it was, and whose idea it was to sit outside, was convinced that moving inside was a good idea...and lets do it before they bring our appitizers and we have to walk thru the dining room holding our plates. There was a "folksy" type band playin, but left soon after I got there. I will say that we tried a little of everything.  I had the beer can chicken turnover with a slaw that had a Honey tabsco sauce.  Chicken turnover was DRY with a capital dry...and I thought the slaw would have gone with nicely with my entree, but I've never seen anyone clear a table so fast.  Two couples tried the sausage trio...and I was able to try the chicken sausage on theirs.....didnt try the other two types of sausage or the sauce, but both couples say that the other sausages were equally good. For the entree....out of our 6 party table....4 of us ordered the fried chicken...and we all exclaimed.....WOW...THATS A BIG PIECE OF CHICKEN.  The skin was fried extra hard and was a little brown underneth, but it was very flavorful...not burnt or scorched, so I guess the brown was seasoning or extra flour...but the chicken was good. I had to request a steak knife to cut the chicken with....this wasnt some pick me up and eat me cute piece of chicken.  Came with grits and a three bean salad....which, even though I saw grits on the menu....i really thought...oh....nice mashed potatoes...but someone needed a extra side of grits and I said...oh...did u get grits...and she said...u did too.  Good gravy....very good...and I ate the leftovers yesterday after church to prove it. One of the guys had the burger and has he picked it up, I could tell it was one of those oh so good it gonna fall apart burgers...and it was. He finshed it with a fork and knife.  He is still talking bout that burger today.....he wasnt feeling the hash though, which was green peppers, tomatoes, redpeppers, onions and pickles.....yes pickles....Another guy got the stuffed catfish....and compared to the size of the chicken....I thought....where is the catfish??   While he said it was good.....he did douse it with a LOT of hotsauce....so maybe thats his way of eating...but I would think....lacked flavor. Had the Pimm Cup, which I (note to self...find out what Pimm is), so I asked the waiter (Sean) does this have any liquor in it??  He laughed....and I told him....its toooooooooo tart....again...he laughed and suggested that I switch over to the Endless glass of white wine for $20.....uh....no. So....I let the Pimm sit for a while with the cucmber garnish in the glass and it got better.....so better that I order antoher....with extra cucmber...and it was even better.  One guy got a Long Island Ice Tea...and on his second one...he requested more liquor...so...they were out of 3 of the beers they had on the menu, that another guy requested....but they were able to come up with a Stout that he liked. The market was closed. I'll say that the staff was accomadating without being pushy...but I would have liked quicker service between the time we ordered our drinks and placed our order for appitizers, i mean we place our appitizer order and dinner order at the same time. I will say this....we closed the place down.  I mean literally they were cleaning and stackin chairs and we had just got to cutting the birthday cake (we provided) and everyone was like....sure....go ahead....if you all dont mind us doing some cleaning we can still be out of here about 30 minutes after you guys leave. So...on to the valet.....now....I will admit that both valets were nice and friendly.....Thanks Bishop for parking my car up close...but dont u hate when you go to the valet and something is missin from your car...but u really cant blame the valet, because after all...they arent responsible for missing items from your car???  Nuff said on that....but I'm missin a jump drive that is ALWAYS on my car keys....keeps me from leavin it in a public computer somewhere, and Sunday morning when I got up to leave for church it wasnt on there.....and I came straight home from th resturant.  Nuff said! Will I go back...sure...but only if someone else is paying or its another birthday get togehter.  Not bad....just not different.  Will say that I was only charged for one Pimm cup...so...otherwise my check was $40 for one per
