i will try to make this as unbiased as possible. i got in for free -- didn't have to pay anything because i was signed up on the guestlist. didn't buy any drinks so i can't give stars or take away stars for that. basically the stars i'm giving are for the fact that it was free, the music and the atmosphere. music was okay -- sometimes it got a little strange and there were weird pauses in between songs because everyone (in my group) was just standing around looking at each other awkwardly waiting for a beat to be present again. perhaps this doesn't matter as much when you are intoxicated. atmosphere was ... okay. got pretty crowded, sardine-ish like. but i was surprised at the extremely eclectic variety of people there. it was a pretty diverse crowd, which was nice and fun for people watching. (this is what you do when you're not drinking) i mean, for a club, it was just ok. i wasn't like the best club i've ever been to -- it wasn't the worst. it was just in the middle. i think i will come back here in june for my bff's bachelorette party. will DEFINITELY not be drinking for that. all girls + this club + alcohol = one of us needs to be the voice of reason and protection. (sorry, my true feelings of clubbing are coming through....)

I have been wanting to come to Zahav since it opened. Timing had to be right however, because I also wanted to eat everything on the menu I had to be sure someone else was footing the bill. That timing came when my mom and I teamed up to combine our birthday dinners and take 7 people which was just enough to do just that. Aside from the major disappointment that they were out of the duck two ways and the duck hearts everything was phenomenal. Hummus and laffa could not be more simple but when properly done is amazing, Zahav's hummus was properly done indeed. Other standouts include the hanger steak, the fried cauliflower and, of course, the lamb shoulder. Now, be aware, the lamb shoulder is part and parcel with the Misbaha tasting which is the most expensive of the tastings, and while amazing, does not allow for the full tapas experience Zahav has to offer. That said, I have been blessed with a golden tongue (along with a couple other nice attributes) and was able to convince them to allow me to snag one a la carte. They even have my favorite whiskey, blantons, behind the bar which only gets better by the third highball. Grab some friends and go to Zahav
