For a change, someone in Hollywood is telling the truth. Their website claims that it's, "a cozy dining and drinking experience," and that's exactly what The Casting Office is. It's your typical bar and grill with the feel of that place on the corner that's so familiar and comforting. I wouldn't go as far as saying that it's like Cheers, but I guess if you came enough times...they'd start to know your name. I came here early on a Friday night and found it fairly empty...which I found odd for a bar but then again 8 o'clock isn't exactly a bar's peak hours. However, if this place is full of life I can imagine it being an even better time. I had dinner with some coworkers which was an enjoyable experience in itself. They have several large HDTVs around the place all playing sports and whatnot. Along with the good food and drinks we were having, it was impossible not to have a good time. The one downside was the music was a bit loud, but we were sitting underneath the speakers. Their menu features typical bar food. Nothing too extravagant and nothing about it is gourmet. Steaks, salads, sandwiches, burgers...you know the usual. Like I said, it's not exactly gourmet food but it's prepared well. The waitresses and bartenders were nice and I think one of them was flirting with some of us at the table. Overall, it's just a nice place to go and have a good time. It's not at the top of my list of places to go, but it's certainly on the list.

There are 4 tables for two (along the far right wall) and 1 longer table for up to 6 people. I bought tickets early & was able to reserve one of the 4 tables. I recommend showing up early to claim your table of choice because not all of the seats provide a very good view of the stage. Beware of picking the front-most table because there ended up being a ton of people standing up next to that table, so that table's view was partially blocked. If you don't reserve a table, then you pretty much have to stand or sit on the floor (both options seem really sucky)... but if you get there early, then you can claim a spot on the floor that's literally 3 feet away from the performer! For shows that are sold out, they have only a very minimal menu of bar-type food: fried shrimp, chicken fingers (very dry, somewhat burnt), mini hamburger, mini cheeseburger, mini veggie burger. These items all came with fries ($4 or $4.50 per item) & tasted OK - not awesome, not terrible. It's not hard to spend the $15 minimum that's required if you sit at a table.

Definitely among the upper echelons of dance clubs in NYC, although there isn't much competition these days. The sound system is great, you can really feel the bass go through you on the dancefloor. I have been here 4 times, twice to see a specific DJ and twice just to go out with friends. The club has a pretty intimate feel which makes it fun to see some of the major international DJs that the place books. I have found the more low key residents nights to be mostly uninspired though, the last featured a broad mix of techno, electro and funky house which seemed almost arbitrary as if trying to please everyone. You would think on a Saturday night they would make more of an effort to pull in a name DJ, or charge a more reasonable cover. The drink prices are ridiculous. Definitely catering to the bottle service crowd although there really aren't enough seating areas for that to be worth it, I would think. I found the security and staff to be generally friendly. Attracts just an "OK" crowd really, a lot of collared shirts and a lot of dudes, generally speaking. I like the outdoor area that allows easy access for smokers and the club itself is generally well-designed. In summary: A nice club to see a specific DJ you like but as a fan of electronic dance music, it would not be my first choice for a regular outing.
