Just a disclaimer first: I hate Bobby Flay. I find him obnoxious, he is indeed my most loathed TV personality and that's without exaggeration. When he comes on TV, I usually change the channel but when he opened up a new Burger Palace in my city, I made it my business to go check it out and see it the pomposity was warranted. I know, it's only a burger joint, not like an actual restaurant that he actually cooks in, but still... It's understandable that a trendy burger joint opened by an American Iron Chef in University City will be mobbed. The line usually wrap around the building on weekends and there's about half an hour wait. So me and a friend gave up once, but returned by myself on a week night when school's out and only had to wait about 10 minutes to purchase and got a table. Since I'm not a big fan of Goat Cheese, I opted for a medium well Dallas Burger (Spice Crusted / Coleslaw / Monterey Jack / BBQ Sauce / Pickles), an order of fries and a pistachio milkshake. On every table, there is a condiment rack loaded with salt & pepper, ketchup, yellow mustard, Chipotle ketchup, Jalapeno hot sauce and a burger sauce. Since there wasn't many people, I got my food within 5 minutes which I was surprised. The burger is meaty, well-proportioned and it tasted good, certainly not the best burger I've ever had but it was pretty satisfying. The fries comes with a BBP fry sauce that tasted a little bit like an aioli, though both the fries and the sauce were quite salty. The star of the whole show was the milkshake and reading through the other comments, it seems like everybody liked the milkshakes. I do like the trendy decor, though I would have loved to have some utensils with me so I can scoop up the missed coleslaw on my plate. The price seems to be reasonable. I'm sure a lot of people would love a vegetarian option. At the end, I think it was decent, but I suffered from MSG attacks halfway home and I have tasted better burgers in half the other places. And no, my meal in general didn't give me any clues on why Bobby Flay is so full of himself on TV.

Bob..........oh Bob, how i love thee. Ok, so sometimes the bartenders get a little ADD and start dancing back behind the bar instead of making my drink, and yea yea, the place is about the size of my bedroom (which is not big, trust me). But seriously, non of that matters. Bob is awesome! The DJ is always on point, ive never run into any particularly creepy guys and even though it gets a little crowded, it's all to the good. Last time i went it was ridiculously crowded and more than once, some very nice patrons at the bar stepped aside to let me order, THIS NEVER HAPPENS ANYWHERE ELSE IVE EVER BEEN. Im pretty short, so this was very special to me. It's 5 bucks and it's well worth it.
