We came to Sugar Cafe on a Sunday night with some friends for drinks. The place has that Tahoe lounge type feel to it with the cozy fireplace, dim lighting and people on their laptops. There's plenty of seating, free wifi, and some food and small plates if you're hungry (mmm, truffled french fries), and plenty of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. The service was a bit slow on a Sunday night (only one bartender) but we weren't in a hurry. As tempting as the "J's Red Velvet Cake" cocktail is, I'd advise getting the Sunset Fizz instead. Bottom line, I think Sugar Bar is a good stop to gather friends before going out but definitely not recommended as a last stop for the evening.

Ibiza is a place that seems to try to appeal to everyone, and in the end, it seems to sell out. When it first opened, Ibiza stuck more to a Spanish-influenced menu, and I have enjoyed cheese plates and Serrano ham in the past. But now they seem all over the place including miniburgers, korean beef, and curried chicken with jasmine rice. The space is still gorgeous with high ceilings, large windows, and long curtains. It is a sophisticated space with a lot of potential, and it is still a great place to grab a cocktail or some wine in the early evening hours. But, on weekends, they now host the Glo party, which equates to 1). large crowds; 2). absurd cover (now at $10); and nasty hip hop music. I think the place works best as a lounge, but there is obviously more money to be made hosting parties. Still, the space and weeknights here will bring it up to two stars, although the weekends are closer to one star.
