I actually had a great time at this place. For one - pool (billiards) only cost $1 per game.  And there are 2 brand new tables and it seemed like nobody was interested in playing so we had the table to ourselves.  At $1 per game, this is CHEAP compared to everywhere else in the city.  And the tables are brand new..  new felt, sticks were perfect, chalk available.  I am a fan of pool so this was a great find for me. Second - the concept of a carnival with games and performers...  I'm digging.  It's different which is important in the City.  Games were impossible to win (ring toss, know the milk bottles from the stand, etc).  Tip:  easiest game would be the dart in the red star if you really want to bring home a prize. Drinks were reasonably priced also.  I was afraid they were going to be ridiculously expensive because I used to come here when the place was Pressure.  But, no, $ for the drinks were manageable.  The $5 cover (even though it's only $5) was a bummer though.

After dinner and Baby Wants Candy improv, we weren't ready to call it a night yet. My NYU days reminded me of a famous place that I've never been, but have been meaning to go. Luckily for us, the next show was 20 minutes away at 12:30am. The cover varies depending on the performer, but that night it was $8/pp. The headliner was none other than Lee Hogans & Pursuance. Lee, who was the trumpeter for Prince (I'm looking at you, Natasha L.) and Diddy's Press Play tour, did not disappoint. His drummer was kickass as well. The entire band, including the bassist, keyboardist was flawless. They were so good that some of them played with their eyes closed for a few of the songs, I kid you not. Tia Fuller, Beyonce's saxophonist, made a guest cameo appearance and tore it up. So did vocalist Adeline, who is reminiscent of an Amel Larrieux from Groove Theory. Sweet and soulful is how I describe her effortless and tireless voice. I liked the fact that Lee gave each of his band members a chance to showcase their talents by doing solos. The interactive part of the night was the medley in which the audience was challenged to guess the 5 artists for a free CD of Lee's upcoming album. I guessed JayZ's Encore, but missed the others. The best guess was 3, which included artists Jill Scott and Beyonce. My favorite part of the 90min show was when Lee did his rendition of Stevie Wonder's Mon Cherie Amor, except with more rhythm. I thought I was in jazz heaven when they did that. Food is $12/ea and specialty drinks are $10/ea. I had a Swiss Coffee ($10), which was made with peppermint schnapps and creme de cacao. Total came out to $20/pp after everything
