Tuesday night and I'm bored. I was supposed to fly out to Vegas, or maybe Austin, or even Seattle. Due to circumstances, that did not work out, so I wanted to go have fun at a chill place. My choices that night were Eve and The Showdown. Never been to either. They had some kind of music event going on at the Showdown, but my friend voted Eve for the neighborhood. I know next to nothing about SF neighborhoods, so I trusted his judgement. Got there at 1030p. People were standing outside smoking, we walked in. First impression -- roomy. Maybe the lack of people? It is Tuesday after all. But hey I wasn't trying to get down and shake my booty. Just wanted to chill. And Eve delivered. Bartenders were fast, drinks were good. Had three and was a little tipsy when I walked out 2 hours later. Maybe partly cause I didn't have dinner. Either way, it worked for me. Decent price too. My friend and I spent the night talking and chilling, which was great. Eve was dimly-lit, so it felt kind of intimate. Music was good without being overpowering. Hate having to yell when you're only a foot apart. Decor was tasteful and kind of artsy -- I liked the paintings and the chandeliers. Makes me think of bordellos. In a classy way. Not sure what it would be like on a weekend. But I'd be down to check it out again.

Asia SF was SO much fun!  Had a great night out here with a buddy of mine for my Birthday this past week.  And boy was I extremely pleased with the with whole experience. We were greeted by a very friendly guy who quickly seated us at the bar, smack down in the front of the "bar stage." The bartenders for the night were Carlos and Showtime.  Those two were so much fun to talk to, and were hot as well.  =)  At time we couldn't tell of Showtime was gay or not, I was secretly hoping he wasn't but given the type of restaurant we were at, who knows right? I had pretty low expectations for the food, given some of the reviews that I had read, but I was surprised to find that most everything we ordered was quite tasty.  We took advantage of the Menage a Trois prie fix, which was an appetizer, entree and dessert for 35 bucks per person.  We started off with the Tamarind chicken satays (marinated chicken breast, skewered and grilled, served with AsiaSF's spicy roasted peanut sauce.) *Eh* The sauce was great, but the size of the chicken was the skewers was so tiny, it seemed like my finger was skewered on the stick.  The meat was pretty much a centimeter wide.  Quite a rip off.  We also had the Asia Dilla, which was a quesadilla stuffed with smoked duck, jack cheese, fresno peppers and scallions, with sun-dried cherry creme fraiche.  The sauce was perfect, and sweet.  I was very satisfied with this dish.  It worked quite well. For entree's we had the Crab cakes, served with a spicy green papaya salad and red curry.  I enjoyed this dish very much, the crab cakes were battered very nicely, and the spicy papaya salad was very refreshing.  However, the size of the crab cakes were tiny.  We could've definitely used 4 cakes rather than the 2 that they served.  I ordered the "baby got back" ribs: baby-back pork ribs with a honey tamarind glaze, grilled to perfection, served with pickled carrots and sweet potato crisps.  Ahhhh...perfect.  The ribs had a great amount of meat on them, the sauce was nice and tangy just as described, and the potato chips were tasty and interesting. I was very happy with what I ordered. Dessert! My favorite part of the meal...I ordered the Banana beignet split.  Definitely divine, and a perfect ending to my meal.  The banana is wrapped and fried lumpia skin, topped with vanilla ice cream, drizzled with butterscotch sauce and chocolate syrup.  Ronald had the Warm Chocolate cake.  I thought this dessert was a bit too rich for my taste.  Nothing too special about it. The best part of the evening by far were the HOT HOT HOT Ladies of Asia SF.  My favorite gal was Carmina.  She was super friendly, and had a nicest botaaaaay I had ever seen. My first impression about Asia SF in the back of my mind was that I would totally be able to tell who's who in this place.  I mean come on, they're a man for god sake, how well can you conceal certain "parts"?  But I was most pleased when I arrived.  All of the ladies were so convinving and super sweet.  They all love to take pictures...and definitely love the attention.  I enjoyed Showtime performances as well  Sure they lip sing the whole time, but overall, it was very entertaining.  They definitely got the crowd for the night hyped up. This place is great to celebrate a special occassion.  Drinks were yummy, but a bit expensive. I can't wait to go back to Asia SF !!
