by San F. on I have to say this place was recommended over and over and over again to us while we were visiting Austin. Even while we were chatting up this woman at the airport. She mentioned we really have to go to the Salt Lick. but really? Is the drive that worth it? Above all the hot dusty parking lot was kind of gross. When you are sweaty and sticky that hot sun dust combination of the parking lot was not fun. Some shaded parking stalls would really help there. The food was good but not great. What I loved were the pickles and onions plate they serve you with your meal. That was tasty! So if you have loads of time on your hands and want to explore then go for it but I don't think it's worth a 45 minute drive outside of Austin for BBQ. Sorry? I did get some really cool shots of folks barbecuing hot meat though!
by Braxton B. on Had lunch here during SXSW. I ordered a Dos Equis and they brought it without lime. Then they brought me my fajitas without cheese and they forgot the guacamole I ordered and had to pay extra for. I was hoping that the food would make up for the poor service but should have known better. It was simply ok. Once I was done, it took forever to get the check.
