I came to Slide on the thursday before New Year's Eve... so NYE Eve. I went with some friends who were familiar with the SF area, Danielle B. and Limuel G., to meet up with their party crew. I was excited to go out for only the second time in SF. My first SF clubbing experience was three years ago, ironically at Ruby Skye which is right next door to Slide. If you are looking for Slide, there is no sign, just go to the door to the left of Ruby Skye. There are a lot of good things to say about this lounge and a few bad things. The good: We didn't have to pay cover and there was a short line. There was a cool DJ playing a nice mix of house music that kept the crowd grooving and moving. Danielle B. and I got some good fist pumps in there when the beats dropped. Some of the other girls we were with did not know how to dance to the music as they were probably more used to the usual hip-hop. The venue is very cool. The "lamps" that were above the dance floor were beautiful and the tables looked nice. The best part has to be the mean ass slide that you encounter when you first enter. The slide definitely makes this lounge unique and I would plan on not wearing a dress just to ride this slide. But beware, you can hurt yourself on this slide. It is a slightly bumpy ride and you come out really quickly. The bad: This place was packed to the max. The dance floor was pretty small and the bar is right behind it. So if you did want to grab a drink you would have to dance-fight your way there. Good thing I was going sober this night. Girls have to beware of giant dudes backing up into you and getting bumped. There was a good mix of smells and odors from the sweating that my nose picked up. Not necessarily my choice of potpourri. The light level is extremely low. It is at that uncomfortable level where you can kinda see, but it kinda hurts your eyeballs. For those science nerds, I could say it felt like my rods and cones were fighting over who should take over. I'd rather be in complete darkness than be in this semi-lit condition. In the end, I had a great-time dancing to the music and I enjoyed the company. But ultimately, the crowds forced my friends' SF party crew to hit the road and head to Jack in the Box across the street for some tacos.

We came here last Friday night and I was excited because I dying to try it out. There were three girls sitting outside smoking as we walked up, and I asked if they were closed. She said no, but they were the only three in the club except for the bartenders. This was around 1:30am. Sure enough, we went inside and there was no one and the bartenders were shutting down for the night. Lame.
