There are a million reviews listed for the Blue Note, so why am I really bothering on this one? Yes, the Blue Note is blue---decorated much like a Jersey diner with mirror on the walls....and there happens to be a neon NY skyline. Other than that, there's nothing much left to say about the space other than it's not handicapped accessible in any way, shape, or form. There's a step to get in and then the place (as you may've read) is very tight---the woman who was seated next to me took up the entire width of the table. Restrooms are upstairs and there's no way to fit a chair in the hallway or in the bathroom/stall. The gift shop is upstairs as is the kitchen so careful as the waitstaff will be running up and down. The food was better than I expected, but wasn't all that. Prices are a bit high and yes, the Diet Coke reeks of bar. There's a $5 minimum and $65 music charge (no clue what that means as I bought my tickets online). Seating is luck of the draw. I bought my tickets soon after they were for sale and we were lucky enough to sit in front of the stage with an amazing view of the show. There were those unlucky audience members who sat behind the main draw's back or in back of the drum player. If you do get to sit, you'll be told to check your coat as you're not allowed to put it on the back of your chair---if you visit during winter, you may want to consider keepng your coat as you'll be cold. And if it's a sold out show, you'll find yourself standing at the bar where you will freeze if it's winter when you visit. Yes, the Blue Note is an institution and you should visit for the music, which, I can say, was worth every cent, cramped moment, and tourist annoyance. As you also may've read, there are a lot of tourists who don't seem to know how to behave in a tight setting, albeit nightclub. I was unfortunate to be in the presence of one who thought I was "someone"---upon seeing me during a show, she turned around and started taking photos of me with a flash. Apparently tourists don't know how to listen since there was an announcement made about the use of flash photography as well as audio/video recordings---DON'T DO IT! They do monitor the audience and I saw several people who were reprimanded. There's a pay lot across the street and we wound up paying $40 for parking for the duration of the show. Make sure to get there early---we waited about 2 minutes to get into the 8:00 show and we got there at 6:30---the place was already filled. When we left the show at 9:30, there were huge lines for the second show (10:30). Enjoy the show!

It's a bit sleezy, the idea of white sheets on mattresses that everybody sits and sleeps on. Kinda gross, with people's sweat all over their backs right after they dance and grind on strangers. But hey, it's dark enough so that you can't see the actual off-whiteness of the sheets. My friends and I got in for free somehow for some strip show. Great DJ spinnin hip hop. As long as there's a stage and free space for me to dance, I'm good.

I love seeing shows at Mighty. They have a monster awesome sound system, the club is dark and groovy, good bartenders (the drinks are a tiny bit on the small side though), and it seems like no matter where you stand you have a good view of the stage. I've seen a lot of good bands and DJs play here (most notably, The Flying Skulls) and I had a rocking time, every time. And, any club that has a decent sized outdoor area is alright by me.
