by Christina R. on Well.... This place serves a very good purpose. Hear me out. I'm a bartender. I work in an INSANELY busy place and I have to deal with swarms of barely 21 year olds and it really gets to me some nights. This place is the exact opposite. So after my shifts I often come here (its around the corner from me) to chill out when I'm not game for the Riptide frenzy. My favorite bartender is Dirk, hes always great to talk to and we bitch about our jobs and the lame customers. I know people don't want to hear bartenders talking crap, but there's no one here to hear so its ok! I enjoy chatting with the regulars too, their pool tournament is pretty cool actually. A lot of the bars in the area participate apparently. I don't know how the drinks are, I pretty much only drink beer here, dive bars are not always the best places to get mixed drinks.... So I guess this place isn't amazing, but when you need a place to unwind and for everyone to ignore you its perfect. And that's what I need. Also I have no idea how they stay in business, must be some sort of front.
by Denise L. on Oh boy has times changed. I use to come here every Friday or Saturday night and party my butt off at Kelly's Mission Rock. The patio use to be where we would go to get fresh air from dancing or to smoke. Now.... I'm going to Mission Rock for Easter Sunday brunch with my long time partier girlfriend Terri. I LOVE this spot for brunch!!! The patio is awesome!!! It's right over the water and you see a nice view of the Bay. It was SO hot and beautiful yesterday, so Sunday brunch was perfect here! Since it was Easter, we were served complimentary peeps and puff pastry cookies when we sat down. So cute! I ordered the mushroom ragout scramble and my friend had the huerveros ranchero. My scramble was YUMMY! Tons of mushrooms and peppers with caramelized onions and topped with cheddar cheese. The roasted potatoes were delicious. The only disappointing thing was that they didn't toast my 9 grain bread. I wasn't sure if it was suppose to be like that or they forgot. Nevertheless, it was really good. I'm definitely coming back here again on a sunny day for brunch. The food is good and there's no wait! Also, the chef is a former Gary Danko chef..... so you know it'll be good!
