I first heard about MJQ eight years ago, but never visited until now. A couple of my friends love this place. Located in Midtown just off of Ponce, it's underground, trendy, and unpretentious -- definitely not your typical Atlanta nightclub. I went on a whim with some friends on a weeknight around 11:30pm. The place didn't start filling up until after midnight. The club is divided into two sections: the main dance hall and bar with DJs at one end and then a smaller room with a mirror ball, where they play old school hip hop. People take turns break dancing in this room and it's a lot of fun to watch. The artwork on the walls inside the club are cool and retro. Free street parking is located on the first small side street that's on your right after turning onto Ponce De Leon Place.

Finally, I made it to South City Kitchen Midtown. I have been to the Vinings location, but the atmosphere is totally different. There were six of us in the party and I think we all ordered the buttermilk fried chicken. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, the buttermilk mashed potatoes were rich and creamy and the green beans were perfectly cooked. Sooo, good. Nice wine list and plenty of great choices by the glass. The service was excellent and I look forward to returning. I'm already thinking chicken and dumplngs, yum! If you are in the mood for some solid comfort food, SCK is the place to get it.
