This place is awesome! My girlfriend and I finally checked it out after seeing it open a while ago. We really loved it. Their specialty rolls were unique and delicious (shaggy dog is the only one we can remember right now). The service was excellent and the ambiance is just what you go for in a sushi place that is nice but not over-the-top loud or swanky. The best part is the price - it is way more affordable than Uchi or Uchiko (and the food is better here too in our opinion). We will definitely be back here soon!

I've been to this venue so many times and every single time that I've been here, I've had the worst experience with getting a drink.  It has terrible organization and the bar seems to never see you or acknowledge the fact that you're there. I've wasted so much of my time waiting to get just one drink at this place. Honestly, it takes me about 30 minutes to get the bartender's attention.  It's usually the one bartender with the tight black leather pants that I have to deal with. The drinks are priced from $8 and up.  It is pricey and the place is over-rated. Putting that aside, the venue itself is fairly large in size.  I've been here for a few parties but no musical shows.  There's an upstairs lounge which I enjoy better than the main floor.  The upstairs lounge also has a bar, but sometimes that area is reserved for VIP only. The restrooms can be a bit messy, so I'd go there in the very beginning before anyone else gets a chance to.  The music and sound across the venue is actually really clear and quite nice. Parking is a bit stressful in this part of town.  It's street parking, so you may end up walking quite a bit since it's a busy area. I definitely would not go here if I wanted to drink but since a lot of events take place here, I end up back here anyway.  It's not my choice of venue at all, but I guess it will do. Oh, and I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't just on the side or in line when waiting for my drink.  I was actually right in front of the bartender and he just kept going all over the place ignoring my call outs.  It was a lot of shuffling and considering that there are always tons of people, I guess I can understand why.

Went downtown on a recent Tuesday night to catch a show at Stubb's with my husband. We opted to try El Sol... for a pre-dinner show. We got seated immediately, and the hostess told us that Carlos would be right with us. So we waited. And waited. And waited some more. Another couple got seated near us, and Carlos went and waited on them almost immediately--completely ignoring us. We'd just started discussing getting up and walking out when the hostess asked, "Have you been helped yet?" When I said no, she hopped right on it, took our orders, and apologized for our (nearly 15 minute) wait for attention. She even threw in some free (if rather blah) queso to appease us. It seemed that even though the restaurant was no where near slammed, they had more business than they'd planned on for a Tuesday night. There was a sold-out show at nearby Stubb's, and they hadn't staffed up accordingly. Not very smart. And I'm sorry: $3.50 for chips and salsa? Three freakin' fifty?! Although I think charging for chips and salsa is a sin, if you're going to do it, at least be reasonable and offer an exceptional product (like Polvo's). The Mexican Martini was $10, and was only mediocre. Not even close to the same league as Trudy's or Cedar Door or even Chuy's. And the entrees, although fairly reasonably priced (in comparison to the drinks and chips/salsa) was absolutely forgettable. Not great. Not terrible. Just really, really mundane. The new space is pretty swanky--especially compared to the homey diner feel of their old digs. But I'm afraid that thier time in this new location will be short lived if they don't get some of their sh*t together.
